The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to help patients recover from injuries, illnesses, and physical conditions that impact mobility and function. Key Responsibilities: Assist the Physical Therapist in implementing individualized treatment plans. Guide patients through therapeutic exercises, activities, and mobility training. Apply therapeutic modalities such as heat, cold, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and traction (as permitted by state practice acts). Observe patient performance, track progress, and document treatment results in medical records. Communicates patient status, changes, or concerns to the supervising Physical Therapist. Educate patients and families on exercise programs, safety procedures, and at-home care techniques. Maintain and organize therapy equipment and treatment areas. Support patient motivation and promote functional independence. Follow established safety protocols, regulatory guidelines, and ethical standards for patient care. Qualifications: Associate's degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program. Current state licensure or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant. CPR/First Aid certification (preferred or required depending on employer). Strong communication, interpersonal, and patient-care skills. Ability to follow detailed treatment plans and work effectively as part of a healthcare team. Physical ability to assist patients with mobility and therapeutic activities.
