    The staff Speech Pathologist is legally and ethically responsible for evaluating, planning and implementing programs for the communicatively handicapped population. Responsibilities: * Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. * Maintains consistency with Administrative and Departmental policies with appropriate behavior, dress, attitude, attendance, confidentiality, professionalism, and reliability. * Plans and administers diagnostic evaluations/treatment programs for clients and completes required documentation such as case history, evaluation report, initial treatment plan, daily progress notes, and quarterly progress notes in a timely manner. * Involves the client and family members or significant others in therapeutic planning, goal setting and recommendations for therapeutic interventions. * Performs professional duties related to patient care in order to restore the patient to his or her optimal level of independence and function. * Participates in established intra-departmental and inter-departmental communication systems and methods to achieve departmental and hospital goals. * Is responsible for insuring productive and efficient delivery of services through coordinated scheduling. * Maintains required records/documentations as specified in department policy and procedures manual. * Participates in medical chart peer review, case records review and utilization review as deemed necessary by management. * Performs all other duties as assigned. Requirements: Education/Skills * Masters level degree in Speech Language Pathology is required * Basic computer knowledge * Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written Experience * New graduate entry level or any amount of experience in speech therapy is acceptable. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications * SLP License in state of employment * SLP Intern license is accepted as long as all requirements are met. * Full license with American Speech and Hearing Association within one year of hire * BLS required In accordance with the CHRISTUS Health License, Certification and Registration Verification Policy, all Associates are required to obtain the required certifications for their respective positions within the designated time frame. The Speech Therapist will provide ongoing therapy to clients in a timely manner per physician's orders. Communicate progress within the agency of resident progress. The Speech Language Pathologist evaluates and treats clients, communicates with families, physicians and other health team members and maintains appropriate documentation of services. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of a master's degree in Speech Pathology, with Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC), or the equivalent of minimum of one-year experience working with adults/children with disorders of neurological origin, including language comprehension, expression, cognition, articulation, voice, fluency, swallowing, and The candidate must also have the ability to function independently within the department. Valid license in Speech Pathology in the state (where applicable) or actively accumulating the supervisory experience required for license. Registration with the Department of Health or eligible. Ability to independently reason and solve problems related to self, clients, and others. Handle stress from caseload who may be frustrated with self or frustrating to work with. Able to operate the following: personal computer, Servox, augmentative devices. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Evaluates and develops appropriate treatment plans to restore or improve communication efficiency for the clients. Evaluates clients and formulates effective treatment plan per physician request and obtain approval for services from referring physician. Initiates ordered treatments and communicates with physician regarding client's progress. Documents evaluations, weekly progress notes, discharge summaries, and other pertinent information as required by the agency's policies, third party payers and stare and federal regulatory agencies. Maintain proper documentation according to state, federal and third-party payor regulations. Maintain proper records according to agency policy and procedures. Communicates and collaborates with team members regarding client's progress, problems and plans. Participates in rehab conferences at regular intervals. Participates in client care planning conferences. Provides client, family, and staff with education as needed. Participates in in-service training programs for staff in agency as requested. Comply with the Speech Language Pathology Practice Act in state. Performs other duties or special assignments as directed by the Director of Clinical Services. Experience: * Is required to have met the qualifications for the Clinical Fellowship Year as outlined by the American Speech- Language- Hearing Association. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications: * Licensed as a Speech Language Pathologist by the State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. Certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. * BLS certification is required.
