  • Financial Analyst

    * Prepare and assist the consolidation and analysis of the Latin America results, including analysis of P&L related metrics, as well as coordinating with both local and regional finance/ business partners to ensure requirements are met on a timely manner. * Collects, analyzes, and manages large data sets of qualitative data from various system applications and assists in the development of meaningful reports. * Actively participate in providing financial support and analyses including strategic planning, business planning & forecasting to regional and global management. Serve as liaison with countries and help coordinate a common message to regional management. * Assists with financial results presentations to senior leadership teams on a periodic basis as requested by manager. * Prepare presentations and lead meetings for various closing, quarterly forecast, and annual plan cycles. Provide accurate and timely financial information so informed business decisions can be made. Also proactively challenge the numbers to ensure the output to senior management is robust. * Be capable of leading or supporting efforts in developing key data mining capabilities, including the development of reporting platforms (such as TM1 or QlikView). * Support the reporting and analysis requirements on other financial related matters as needed and delivery of accurate and timely financial information across the organization Work Experience Position Requirements: * Bachelor's degree (Finance or Accounting) required; Master's degree preferred. * Proficient of Microsoft Office Programs - advanced user of Excel & PowerPoint * Prior experience in FP&A or portfolio management related roles. * Insurance industry experience required. * A strong, business 'savvy' individual who has desire to deliver complete and accurate business results (Actuals, Forecast and Plan). * Works with sense of urgency and unwavering focus on accuracy. * Highly motivated individual who can manage through a multitude of competing priorities at any given point in time. Ability to successfully accomplish multiple tasks with inflexible deadlines * Ability to handle stressful situations * Flexible, team-oriented approach to issues and strong team building skills. * Required fully Bilingual English / Spanish. * Knowledge of TM1, QlikView, and PeopleSoft preferred.

  • Senior Financial Analyst, Chubb Overseas General

    This is a Reinsurance finance role involving the management and accounting of third-party reinsurance contracts, with focus on managing complex internal reinsurance arrangements, complex third party treaty structures and management, and strategic reinsurer relationships. Primary functions involve the creation and settlement of statements to brokers & reinsurers using reconciled statistical information, contract wording, and other information. Major responsibilities include: * Analyzing and reconciling reinsurance data including accounting/statistical data, financial activity/accounts with international business units and third parties, and technical data by contract with a focus on maintaining data integrity and accuracy for specific lines of business, with a focus on liability lines. Validate accuracy of reinsurance calculations and registrations by COG affiliates and communicate corrections required. * Monitoring Program Annual Aggregate Deductibles to identify erosions and ability to bill reinsurance recoverables under the contracts. Ensure brokers and reinsurers are informed of changes to aggregate erosions in a timely manner. * Calculating & Registering Reinsurance Transactions including but not limited to reserve, loss, & premium adjustments based on reconciled data and application of appropriate contract wording. Prepare billing statements and adjusting entries as necessary to ensure correct P&L for both reporting and billing purposes. * Preparation and distribution of Quota Share and Excess of Loss statements, meeting contractual timeframes, liaising and coordinating with regional reinsurance/finance teams on shared programs, and acting as a key point of contact for certain strategic reinsurers which require advanced reporting and query resolution. * Manage Intercompany Direct Reinsurance Process involving the billing of premiums/payment of losses for both excess of loss and proportional contracts and tracking and settlement of intercompany balances across multiple legal entities and bank accounts. * Responsible for the timely collection/settlement of Third-Party Reinsurance Recoverables, working closely with brokers and reinsurers to respond to queries on balances. Coordinate with analysts and colleagues to ensure the prompt application of cash receipts/disbursements and registering contractual adjustments. Actively pursue past due balances, responding to broker and reinsurer queries to facilitate sett * Miscellaneous duties as required to achieve the overall objective of the position including reviewing contractual wording/summaries to determine appropriate treaty coding, assisting with quarterly & management reporting including narrative details of aged recoverables, identifying reinsurer payment trends, and adhoc requests from Ceded Reinsurance, Actuarial, and Management teams. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS * Reports to Outward Treaty Manager in Global Treaty Department * Coordinates with COG analysts both within and outside department to collect & settle reinsurance balances SCOPE * In-force book of business as well as run-off activity, new products/lines of business as required * Internal/External Service Partners * Major brokers/Reinsurers in the London, Bermuda, & US markets Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting or equivalent experience; advanced degree or certification such as CPCU or ARe a plus. * Experience with reinsurance terminology and functions, various proportional (QS) and non-proportional (XOL) reinsurance structures * Knowledge of insurance and reinsurance accounting * Excellent communications skills - oral & written. * Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks at the same time while meeting closing schedules and deadlines. * Excellent personal computer knowledge and experience. Ability to work with wide-range of software. Ability to analyze and work with large volumes of data.
