Job Description RESPONSIBILITIES: Prep and splice fiber optic cables, locate problem areas and perform other repairs as needed. This requires proficiency with fusion splicer and fiber test equipment. Install and maintain transmission and reception equipment for FTTH network. Install and maintain network systems for private lines and determine solutions for any issues preventing the service from operating normally. Initiate test and turn-up procedures with System Engineers in accordance with company compliance standards. Collect and interpret engineering documentation, to include schematics, fiber management systems and performance OTDR reports. Support field maintenance teams, including: IT, regional engineering teams and any other department as related to fiber network. Provide demand and preventive maintenance for fiber network & FTTH. Maintain proper network documentation on changes and upgrades. Troubleshoot MDF/headend issues with 3rd party providers. The primary responsibilities of the fiber splicer will be to splice/test fiber optic cables aerial and underground in both outside (OSP) and inside (ISP) settings. Read, create, and maintain splicing schematics, and diagrams, and create/maintain accurate splicing and field notes. Maintain control of outside plant (OSP) - inside plant (ISP) activities surrounding the assigned work area(s). Support project timelines, conduct inspections, designing and providing accurate as-builts for projects. Other duties, responsibilities and qualifications may be required and/or assigned. This position will cover the Ohio, Western PA, and West Virginia territory, this role requires travel to customers locations.What you'll do: Analyze, review, and inspection of findings to determine source of problem, and recommends repair, replacement, or other corrective actions Coordinate problem resolution with engineering, customer service, and other personnel to expedite repairs Provide start-up/commissioning services or other training to customer Quote jobs when applicable Perform mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic service on products and perform adjustments. The position also assists management in sales, field service and warranty issues. Primary work hours will be Monday through Friday Work hours will vary based on customer requirements Background/ Experience: 2+ years of related field technician experience Must have a strong technical background, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulics knowledge Ability to professionally communicate technical issues with customers with varying degrees of technical expertise Ability to document all processes related to start-ups, troubleshooting, and repairs completed for future internal and/or external customer review Proven ability to initiate and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external customers. (Ex. Working with Company Engineering and Sales team to ensure all customer contacts are knowledgeable of customer activity) Attention to detail, good organizational skills, and accuracy is a must have; ability to analyze information, good problem-solving skills Ability to travel throughout Western PA, Ohio, and West Virginia Valid driver license
