1933

The Barrandov Studios, founded by Miloš and Václav Havel (the father of former president Václav Havel), were completed in 1933.

The Czech movie industry, already influenced by Hollywood, flourished after World War I. Extasy (Extase, 1933) directed by Gustav Machatý, and River (Řeka, 1933) directed by Josef Rovenský were the first Czechoslovak movies that had success reaching an audience abroad.

1935

In 1935, he opened his second cinema in Haifa, Armon Cinema (palace in Hebrew), a large art-deco building that contained 1,800 seats.

1958

In 1958, the family expanded to Tel Aviv, by acquiring the Chen cinema in Dizengoff Square.

1967

In 1967, the family entered the film distribution business when it acquired a company named Forum Film.

1982

In 1982 the "Chen" cinema was turned into the first cinema multiplex in Israel.

1989

The Czech movie industry changed dramatically after the Velvet Revolution and the fall of communism in 1989.

2000

At the same time, since 2000, the Company has been growing its film distribution and cinema-related advertising businesses throughout its CEE countries of operations.

2006

In December 2006, Cinema City International had an initial public offering on the Warsaw Stock Exchange at a price of 19.30 zloty per share ($6.765), raising $106 million at a company value of $343 million after money.

In the first 6 months of 2006 it became the second biggest film distribution company in the country.

2014

In March 2014 the Company entered the UK and Irish markets through the combination of cinema businesses with Cineworld Plc.
