    DETAILS The Defense Senior Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for creating the methods and sequence of manufacturing operations for intricate and/or complex machined parts and assemblies that meet design and quality requirements. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, cell creation/management, tool design, standard work development, and CNC programming. Provide manufacturability input and manufacturing plans for product design or modification. Lead continuous improvement projects that support the Lean Manufacturing methodology such as set-up reduction, kaizen events and total productive maintenance. This position will serve as the liaison between Manufacturing Engineering and other functional groups including manufacturing, design engineering, quality, and customer service. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Principal Activities * Develop and prepare complete manufacturing processes and routes for tight tolerance complex parts to meet/exceed the organizational goals of scrap and lead time * Develop and maintain standard work documentation for navy cell manufacturing equipment and processes. * Evaluate complex manufacturing processes by conducting process analysis, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials, conferring with suppliers, and soliciting observations from operators/production technicians * Determine, design and implement cutting tools, fixtures, and gages for manufacturing and assembly operations * Determine root cause of failures using statistical methods (e.g. design of experiment, statistical process control) that may result in changes in design, tolerances, or processing methods * Evaluate product designs for manufacturability * Generate part programs for 3 and 5 axis CNC machining centers and OD grinders by manual and CAM programming (Esprit experience a plus) * Generate programs for the new capital equipment including, but not limited to, test stand and noise equipment. * Participate in the evaluation, procurement and start-up of new capital equipment * Developing and manage multiple project plans and schedules for work activities within timing and cost constraints. * Create cost justification and Capital Allocation Requests for projects along with project tracking, development of cost savings and productivity funnels and project deck. * An understanding of drafting standards and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and ability to utilize reading part drawings * Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, establishing industry networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and/or participating in professional associations * Provide leadership to others in department. Act as prime contact on high level projects. Establish goals and objectives required to complete projects. Trains and mentors less experienced employees. * Prepare test failure analysis for Engineering review * Participate in MRB meetings for material assessment and disposition * Document and enforce corrective actions on open Shop Incident Reports (SIRs) CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS Knowledge Skills & Abilities * Experience working in ERP business system, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, AutoCAD or Solid Edge or similar design software experience is required. 3D modeling experience is a plus. * Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. * Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. * Ability to read and interpret documents such as part drawings, assembly drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of organization. Job Responsibilities includes (but may not be limited to): Assists Project Manager and Superintendent in the management of construction projects, which involves cost control, expediting, quantity take-off, scheduling and safety. Develop peer constructability review of design documents. Develop, input and update project schedule as directed. Assist with the coordination, development and accuracy of the project estimate, budget, revisions, cost coding, and prepare cash flow charts. Analyze changes to contract documents, i.e. Owner Change Order Requests (CORs), Subcontractor Change Orders (SCOs). Review revised cost reports with Project Manager and assist in establishing final costs. Attend and participate in monthly job reviews. Work with Project Manager to perform a thorough and objective bid analysis using all applicable components. Prepare subcontractor Schedule of Values and monthly owner billings with Project Manager and Project Superintendent. Other duties upon request. Qualifications: 3 years of experience as a Project Engineer in commercial construction industry. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management of Engineering or related field. Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Project Management software (Viewpoint or similar) and Scheduling software (Primavera or similar). Apply a complete and proficient understanding of construction management, engineering, safety, scheduling, estimating, budgets, costing and procurement. Analyzing and interpreting data. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Multi-tasking in a fast paced environment. Strong leadership, detail oriented, problem solving, initiative and teamwork. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Principal Activities Develop and prepare complete manufacturing processes and routes for tight tolerance complex parts to meet/exceed the organizational goals of scrap and lead time Develop and maintain standard work documentation for navy cell manufacturing equipment and processes.
