CIT Group CEO and leadership

Ellen R. Alemany is chairwoman and chief executive officer of CIT Group and chairwoman and CEO of CIT Bank, N.A., the company’s bank subsidiary. She was named CEO in April 2016, became chairwoman in May 2016 and is leading CIT’s evolution as a leading national bank that empowers businesses and personal savers.

Alemany formerly headed The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) Americas, the management structure that oversees RBS' businesses in the Americas. She also served as chairman and CEO for RBS Citizens Financial Group, Inc. Prior to RBS, she served as CEO for Global Transaction Services at Citigroup. Alemany held a number of senior positions during her tenure at Citigroup, including executive vice president for Commercial Business and president and CEO of CitiCapital. She also held a number of executive positions in Citigroup's Global Corporate Bank, including customer group executive of North American markets, global industry head of Media and Communications, U.S. industry head of Consumer Products, and customer group executive for the Global Relationship Bank in Europe, based in London.

Alemany received her MBA in finance from Fordham University. She serves on the boards of Fidelity National Information Services, Inc., The Center for Discovery, Operation HOPE and the Partnership for New York City. She also serves on the Board of Advisors for the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City and the Board of Trustees for The Conference Board.

John Fawcett is the executive vice president and chief financial officer of CIT. In this role his responsibilities include strategic planning, financial analysis, accounting, treasury management, tax and investor relations.

Fawcett joined CIT in April 2017. Previously, he served as CFO of Citizens Financial Group (CFG) and Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) Americas from 2007 through 2015. He was instrumental in leading the CFG initial public offering and separation of CFG from RBS in September 2014. Prior to this he had a 20-year tenure at Citigroup with CFO roles in various areas including as CFO of Global Transaction Services, CFO of the Commercial Markets Business and head of Financial Planning and Analysis for the Global Corporate and Investment Bank, to name a few. Most recently, Fawcett served on the board of Rabobank North America.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration in Finance, both from St. John’s University.

Kenneth McPhail works at CREDIT SUISSE GROUP AG and First Boston Corp and an Exec VP/Chief Strategy Ofcr at CIT GROUP INC; Co-Head:Depository Institutions at MERRILL LYNCH & CO., INC.; and Exec VP/Chief Strategy Officer at Cit Group NJ Inc/The. He has worked as Head:Depository Institutions at Citigroup Corporate Treasury and Mng Dir/Head:Corporate Strategy & Development at Mufg Union Bank NA. Kenneth works or has worked as Head:North American Banks at Citigroup Corporate Treasury. He attended Brown University in Providence in the State of Rhode Island & Providence Plantat.

Gina Proia is an EVP and Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at CIT GROUP INC and is based in New York, New York. She has worked as Financial Communications at GENERAL MOTORS CO; Executive Director, Global Media Relations & Financial Communications at Ally Financial; and Managing Director at PR Agency.

Jim Duffy is Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer of CIT Group. He is responsible for overseeing the human resources function, including the development and implementation of the Company's global employee talent programs, employment policies, compensation and benefits.Mr. Duffy was previously Chief Human Resources Officer at Ally Financial Inc., where he was responsible for HR, including compensation, staffing, leadership development and talent management, talent acquisition, employee relations, and organizational development. Prior to Ally, Duffy was the Chief Human Resources Officer at CIT Group Inc.Prior to joining CIT in 2006, he was the Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Citigroup's Global Consumer Group-a $13 billion business promoting a full range of consumer products, such as retail banking, credit cards, consumer finance, student loans, and mortgages, in more than 50 countries, through more than 200,000 employees.Before joining Citigroup, Duffy held senior HR positions at other major banking and manufacturing companies such as AlliedSignal, Ingersoll-Rand, Banker's Trust, and GE.
