The Commercial Card Fraud Strategy Leader leads the end‑to‑end strategy, analytics, and program oversight for fraud and credit risk within the Commercial Credit Card portfolio. The position is responsible for building advanced fraud detection capabilities, shaping risk controls, and driving operational excellence across products, processes, and systems. Key Responsibilities
* Risk Strategy & Oversight
* Lead end-to-end reviews of current fraud and credit risk management capabilities, strategies, and controls.
* Oversee and monitor the Commercial Credit Card portfolio to reduce credit and fraud losses, mitigate employee misuse, and balance customer experience.
* Identify risks, develop controls, and evaluate their effectiveness, escalating issues as appropriate.
* Deliver timely escalation of risk issues to senior management and collaborate on action plans.
* Analytical Leadership
* Build and mentor a team of data scientists and analysts to develop and implement advanced machine learning and statistical models for fraud detection and prevention.
* Drive portfolio fraud analytics across customer segments, providing actionable insights for risk strategies.
* Develop predictive models to monitor and mitigate emerging fraud threats, integrating real-time detection with engineering and IT teams.
* Use data-driven insights to recommend improvements to fraud prevention systems and technologies.
* Program Development & Collaboration
* Develop a comprehensive fraud risk management program for Commercial Card and Expense products, including key indicators for tracking and reporting.
* Partner with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and customers to launch and update risk controls across products.
* Act as Business Segment Relationship Manager (BSRM) for vendor partnerships, ensuring compliance with Third Party Risk Management requirements.
* Collaborate with audit, business segment, and corporate risk teams to address issues and support strategic goals.
* Operational Excellence
* Manage, mentor, and develop a team within the Fraud Strategy & Analytics group, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and high-performance culture.
* Establish team goals, measure performance, and ensure alignment with company objectives.
* Drive operational efficiencies and scale through process improvements, automation, and staff development.
* Develop chargeback management strategies for card issuing and travel businesses.
* Documentation & Compliance
* Responsible for creation and approval of risk assessments for new product launches/enhancements.
* Update documentation regularly, including credit policies, procedures, and process flows.
* Ensure adherence to corporate and business unit policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
* 10+ years of experience in fraud strategy, fraud prevention, data analytics, or risk management.
* 5+ years of experience in fraud risk management at commercial card issuers
* Deep expertise in identity and payment fraud methods, tools, and processes for prevention, detection, and fraud operations.
* Advanced proficiency in data science techniques, including machine learning, predictive modeling, and statistical analysis.
* Experience with fraud detection platforms, rule engines, and data visualization tools.
* Strong understanding of payment processing systems, card networks, and risks specific to card transactions and corporate expense management.
* Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present requirements and issues clearly.
* Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
* Proficiency in MS Office suite and analytical tools such as Python, R, SQL, and/or SAS.
* Experience in underwriting (credit) and card fraud/disputes is preferred.
* Knowledge of risk management principles and regulatory compliance requirements.

Pay Transparency
The salary range for this position is $146,000 - $178,000 per year, plus an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the work location, and relevant skills and experience.

Proactively manage controls, QA/QC and control oversight to self-identify risk issues and have strong risk and control acumen to drive issues to closure through process, control, procedures, training and monitoring for sustainability.
Develop and implement policies, procedures and standards, which ensure compliance with all current regulatory and legal obligations. Drive risk accountability at every level: identify regulatory, financial, operational, reputational and other risk issues; develop plans for remediation; and execute across teams spanning multiple business areas.
Create strong data systems and analytics to identify root causes of issues with a keen lens on customer and regulatory impact and drive sustainable improvements to remediate identified gaps.
Keep current on industry best practices and guidance from the CFPB, OCC, Investors and industry groups.
Engage in exams and audits with regulators, internal audit and investors to deliver strong audit results and respond effectively to issues noted.
Qualifications - External
15+ years of leadership experience is strongly preferred
Leadership experience with Mortgage Default; core servicing experience is also desirable
15 - 20 years of experience in the mortgage industry, preferably with significant experience in a consumer bank
