    Under RN supervision, the Endoscopy Assistant is responsible for the care of the patient undergoing endoscopic procedures and assisting the physicians while applying age-specific needs in the assessment, treatment, and/or care of patients. Must take call on a rotating basis. Job Specific: 1. Participates in the safety management and infection control programs (EF). 2. Assembles the necessary equipment and supplies according to the type of procedure performed (EF). 3. Know specific use of al equipment to be used (EF). 4. Position stretcher correctly according to procedure and assist in positioning patient on stretcher (EF). 5. Assist in connecting patient to : B/P cuff, ECG leads, Pulse Oximeter and Oxygen (EF). 6. Assists Physician and Registered Nurse with all procedures including, but not limited to Bronchoscopies, Colonoscopies, EGD's, ERCP's, PEG tube placement, Liver Biopsies, etc. (EF). 7. Observes progress of procedure and provides additional equipment, supplies or other items to physician as needed 8. Removes contaminated scope to work room (EF). 9. Assists in the cleaning and processing of contaminated scopes / instruments according to the Endoscopy Department Policies and Procedures (EF). 10. Job Specific: Sleep Study Preparation and Set-up Collect, analyze and integrate patient information in order to identify and meet the patient-specific needs (physical/mental limitations, current emotional/physiological status regarding the testing procedure, pertinent medical/social history). Determine final testing parameters/procedures in conjunction with the ordering physician or clinical director and laboratory protocols. Review the patient's history and verify the medical order.
