Nature of Work
The fundamental reason that the Deputy Sheriff classification exists is to perform general duty police work in the protection of life and property through crime prevention and the enforcement of laws and ordinances. A Deputy Sheriff's duties range from periods of physical inactivity to situations requiring extreme physical exertion and may involve an element of danger. Employees must be able to act without immediate supervision and exercise independent judgment in meeting emergencies. Specific work assignments are made by a Deputy Sheriff Sergeant or other supervisor and performance is checked through personal inspections, and review of oral and written reports. Deputies are usually appointed to patrol upon entry to the job. After gaining experience, Deputies may be assigned to patrol, K-9, SOP, civil service, warrant service, probate, court security, etc. Work responsibilities for Deputy Sheriffs are based upon assignment which may include all or some of the following: learning to perform duties, performing station desk duties, interviewing witnesses, serving warrants, completing documentation, maintaining equipment, preparing for and testifying in court, performing outreach and public relations duties, engaging in self-development and training, patrolling, securing crime scenes, handling evidence, investigating crimes, conducting covert investigations, maintaining security of courts, serving civil papers, and transporting suspects/criminals.
Minimum Qualifications
For the Deputy Sheriff Trainee, a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate is required. A state of Alabama Driver License is required.
Special Requirements
According to the APOST Commission, an applicant must have graduated and received a regular or advanced high school diploma as approved or recognized by the Alabama State Department of Education (see Alabama Administrative Code Rule 290-3-1-02). Correspondence or mail order high school diplomas or certificates are not acceptable.
Trainees will be required to complete the Alabama Minimum Standards Training for law enforcement officers (APOST). Upon completion of APOST, candidates must be at least 21 years of age. Trainees who have not yet been through the Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) Commissions training are appointed provisionally. They work on a desk assignment until sent to the academy. Upon completion of the academy, Trainees may be appointed by the Sheriff to the Deputy Sheriff classification. A six-month probationary period begins when trainees are appointed by the Sheriff to the rank of Deputy Sheriff.
Alabama POST certified individuals are not required to attend the academy. They are appointed to the rank of Deputy Sheriff and serve a six-month probationary period. Applicants who are eligible for lateral entry equivalency training or with lapsed law enforcement APOST certification will be hired in trainee status until the APOST refresher course is completed.
Applicants who are offered employment will be required to undergo a medical examination by a physician designated by the appointing authority and successfully complete a physical agility test, drug test, and thorough background investigation prior to being employed.
Applicants must be available to work shifts, weekends, and holidays. New hires may reside outside of Montgomery County but are required to live within a response time of thirty (30) minutes of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office before the end of the six-month probationary period. This response time is an average time of thirty (30) minutes, obeying all traffic laws. Address must be approved by the Chief Deputy or the Assistant Chief Deputy.
Employees must have and maintain a valid Alabama driver's license. Must maintain APOST certification (12 CEUs annually) and firearms certification to include rifles and shotguns. The Transportation Planner is responsible for managing and maintaining the eligibility of SARPC for state and federal funding by coordinating transportation planning and program requirements in the region. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Transportation and Urban Planning:
1. Analyze traffic flow, signal timing, capacity analysis, and other technical aspects to ensure the optimization of traffic operation. Collect and analyze data, forecast trends, and make informed decisions is crucial for successful planning.
2. Analyze freight demand patterns, including volume, origin-destination flows, and seasonal/economic variations, to optimize freight transportation networks.
3. Research, design, and implement sustainable transportation practices, including promoting active transportation (walking, cycling), public transit, and reducing carbon emissions.
4. Validate and calibrate transportation travel demand forecast models using observed data to ensure their accuracy and reliability in predicting travel behavior.
5. Assist in development and maintenance of transportation studies, reports, and plans.
6. Assist in development of long-term (Long Range Transportation Plan) and short-term transportation plans (Transportation Improvement Program) for SARPC.
7. Assist in maintaining the congestion management system (CMS), Transportation Alternatives Programs (TAP) grant, Human Services Coordinated Transportation Plan (HSCTP), Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) and other strategies/plans/products as assigned.
8. Assist in managing and maintaining the eligibility of SARPC to receive Federal transportation funds by coordinating federally-mandated transportation planning and programming. Ensure plans/reports/projects are completed by state and federal deadlines to continue to receive funding.
9. Coordinate and communicate the transportation activities with member governments, state,
and federal agencies, and standing committees.
10. Provide technical assistance and prepare grant applications for member governments.
11. Manage SARPC's GIS licenses and credits.

Project Management:
1. Manage transportation projects from conception to implementation including, but not limited to,
planning, organizing, and coordinating resources, are necessary for successful project execution.
2. Plan, coordinate, and manage GIS projects (Cross Organizational as well), including defining
project scope, allocating resources (li censes/credits), setting tim elines , and ensuring successful
project completion.
3. Assist department director in managing a team of transportation planning professionals, including
assigning tasks, providing guidance/support, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
4. Detennine and allocate funding for projects, review budgets, and ensure that projects are on
budget and on time.
5. Utilize the Computerized Project Management System (CPMS) to initialize and monitor project
financial data.
Communication:
1. Coordinate the member government staff to facilitate data sharing, development, and
management.
2. Attend public transportation training and events as necessary.
3. Coordinate public involvement, transportation planning, and committee meetings to include
notification, preparation of meeting materials, resolutions for approval and developing minutes.
4. Present transportation plans and projects at various meetings.

General Overview
The Correctional Officer Trainee is an entry-level, full-time position with the Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC). Employees serve a critical role in the overall success of the ADOC by performing correctional work in state prisons by overseeing the custody, rehabilitation, and reentry of inmates. As a Summer Intern, you can expect your experience to include the following:
* Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, designers, and BIM leads to execute work on water and wastewater treatment and conveyance infrastructure projects.
* Assist in the preparation of engineering and design deliverables including drawings, specifications, technical memoranda, reports, schedules, and figures.
* Communicate effectively and coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams (e.g., drafters, designers, engineers).
* Perform edits and updates in Revit and AutoCAD models based on engineering changes and markups.
* Participate in the full project lifecycle, including design, documentation, and construction support.
* Conduct field work such as site investigations and construction observations as needed.
* Support data-related tasks including entry, analysis, visualization, and documentation to inform design decisions.
* Check design deliverables for consistency, readability, and adherence to standards and specifications.
* Provide engineering services during construction, including performance checks and conformity assessments.
* Manage and deliver assignments on time, demonstrating strong organizational and time management skills.
* Complete an Internship Capstone project demonstrating skill development, learning, and accomplishments gained during the summer internship experience.
Work schedule and location: Summer Interns with Brown and Caldwell work a full-time schedule of 40 hours a week and may have the potential for hybrid work schedules and fieldwork

TRC is seeking highly motivated and diverse Digital Business Analyst Interns for our Summer 2026 intern program out of our Seattle, WA Office. This is a paid full-time position. Anticipated duration will be from June through August 2026 (flexible). This position has the potential to transition into a Full-Time role upon graduation. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Project Managers and Team Leaders and partner with engineers, scientists, and technologists.
Responsibilities
* The Digital Business Analyst Intern will work to support our consulting, Project Management Office (PMO) and delivery teams to help deliver quality products to our clients. Specifically, they will bring a high-energy attitude with excellent written, analytical and organizational skills. They will work with our Senior Consultants, Project Managers and other groups within the broader TRC:
* Projects could include grid modernization technology roadmaps, requirements gathering and documentation, information technology (IT) / operational technology (OT) integration and execution strategies, smart grid technology deployment, and business use case creation and evaluation, and internal process improvement initiatives
* Will support various project tasks including:
* Gathering & analyzing data for project deliverables
* Organizing project documents, plans and timelines
