Bellevue, Kentucky company history timeline

1803

In 1803, Taylor helped secure a United States Army post there, which ultimately became the Newport Barracks.

1812

Ownership passed to General James Taylor, famous for his involvement in the War of 1812.

1848

Although Taylor died in 1848, when the city of Bellevue was incorporated and named, town founders honored the original landowner.

1870

Bellevue traces its roots back to 1870 and, as such, our community offers a variety of unique historic buildings.

1894

In 1894, Bellevue’s city fathers published a brochure in an effort to bring more settlers to the city.

1939

Founded in 1939 by the Schneider Family, Schneider's originated as an old-fashioned neighborhood candy and ice cream store.

1986

In 1986, after almost fifty years in the candy business, Robert retired.

1987

Since 1987, a total of $7 million has been invested into Bellevue with over 200 jobs created.

1995

Dedicated to the memory of Stan and Ethel Swope, who were committed to our community’s youth, this park was named in their honor in 1995.
