Education and Experience Guidelines - Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education/Training:
* Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade
Experience:
* Two years of full-time experience as a Police Dispatcher with a law enforcement agency equivalent to the City of Brentwood's Police Dispatcher I.
License/Certificate:
* Possession of a California Peace Officer Standard and Training (POST) Public Safety Dispatchers Certificate at time of hire.
Other Requirements:
* Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
* Must be able to pass a comprehensive law enforcement background check.

The Planning Division is divided into the following four sections:

Position Duties
The Division is seeking applicants for multiple positions within the Planner I/II/III classification. This is a full-time position and is responsible for various current planning and advanced planning functions such as customer service, planning application review and processing, policy development, community and stakeholder engagement, presenting staff recommendations at public hearings, and inter-departmental collaboration.
Salary range for the classification of Planner I/II/III are:
* Planner I: $90,068.16 - $109,418.40 annually
* Planner II: $105,028.56 - $127,589.28 annually
* Planner III: $120,141.84 - $146,393.52 annually
This salary range includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates' qualifications and experience.
The ideal candidates will possess a high level of professionalism, excellent customer service and project management skills, and a strong work ethic. These positions require good judgment, initiative, perseverance, integrity, organizational skills, flexibility, and strong written and verbal communications skills.
Typical duties for a Planner I/II/III position may include, but are not limited to:
* Reviews and coordinates applications for land use entitlements including development and use permits, General Plan Amendments, and rezonings to ensure they meet the requirements of state laws, the General Plan, City policies, and the municipal code.
* Manages the preparation of long-range planning documents, including plans for Urban Villages, housing, transit station areas, or other specific plans. These documents address land use, urban design, housing needs, circulation, streetscape, and parks and open spaces. Applies for and manages grants.
* Manages environmental review for projects pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act and National Environmental Policy Act, including coordination with consultants, technical experts, Native American tribal representatives, City departments, and the public.
* Coordinates with cross-discipline internal and external project team members to establish and update project schedules, identify and resolve issues, communicate regular status updates, and keep various stakeholders informed. Manages projects to ensure that all parties are on-track with project requirements, deadlines, and schedules, including deadlines required by State law.
* Confers and coordinates with other departments, agencies, professionals, and the public on land use and environmental review related matters.
* Provides information and direction to professionals, developers and the public concerning the General Plan, zoning ordinance, the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), historic preservation, and other planning development policies and guidelines.
* Prepares amendments and updates to the Zoning Ordinance and Sign Ordinance.
* Develops and revises planning policies, including the General Plan, affordable housing policies, and other development focused policies.
* Conducts research, data management (including GIS), analysis and reporting in support of other Planning activities.
* Uses a permitting database system to track project statuses and workflow. Conducts electronic plan review.
* Prepares and delivers oral and written reports with recommendations on land use proposals at community meetings and public hearings.
* Performs other duties of a similar nature requiring independent judgment and initiative. This position requires attendance at some evening and occasional weekend meetings outside of standard working hours. The number of evening and weekend meetings varies and is not predictable each month.

Position Duties
The San Jose Public Library has one (1) Librarian I/II Full-Time and two (2) Librarian I/II Part-Time benefited positions to fill with this recruitment. The Environmental Services Department is recruiting a Desktop Support Technician to deliver dedicated support for the department's technology operations and needs. This role requires strong customer service skills, the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical staff, and the flexibility to operate in a dynamic environment that includes both operational responsibilities and project-based work. This position is 100% on-site, Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day; remote work is not currently available. The Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services (PRNS) Department is currently seeking to fill one (1) Parks, Recreation, and Facilities Supervisor position in the Recreation Division overseeing the Citywide Aquatics Program. The position will be responsible for the oversight and administration of the Aquatics programs at six (6) city owned facilities including one (1) year-round program. The position is responsible for all related duties to the operation and maintenance of the programs and its facilities. This includes but is not limited to the development and implementation of the Learn to Swim Program, Recreation Swim Program, training programs, staff certifications, contracts with external partnerships, and management of Full Time and Part Time seasonal staff.

STEP #3: ORAL BOARD INTERVIEW

STEP #5: BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION PROCESS

Those selected will receive a conditional offer of employment, contingent upon successfully passing a medical and psychological exam.

This is the trainee level class in the Firefighter series, responsible for becoming proficient in the understanding of lifesaving and firefighting methods within the SJFD. About the Position
The Planning and Policy Strategist (Assistant to the City Manager) is a key member of the Office of Administration, Policy, and Intergovernmental Relations (API). The position will report to the Deputy Director of Policy and support organizational capacity-building around policy development and data-driven decision-making. The position enhances the City Manager's Office internal planning and management, and supports streamlining inter-departmental coordination for programs, policies, and initiatives. The position is responsible for facilitation and collaboration across Departments to advance the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services that support the City Council Focus Areas, City Council Committees, and other services that resolve critical issues. Supporting Departments and the City Manager's Office in policy development is critical to this position, as is supporting the City Manager's Leadership Team as they oversee policies, programs, and projects going through City Council Committees and City Council Meetings. The ideal candidate will have a passion for problem-solving and working with multi-disciplinary teams. San José Mineta International Airport (SJC) is currently seeking a skilled SecOps Engineer (formally classified as an Information Systems Analyst) to join our Airport Technical Services (ATS) team. The Animal Shelter Coordinator, Foster position has the responsibility to provide humane handling and care for animals sheltered at San Jose's Animal Care Center and those in foster homes with a focus on building and maintaining relationships with foster volunteers, coordinating foster placements, tracking and following-up on animals in foster care, and managing the logistics associated with these functions. This position reports to the designated Animal Shelter Operations Supervisor and has lead responsibilities for Animal Care Attendants and program-related volunteers.
This position will undergo 4 - 6 weeks of training during normal business hours. This position may be required to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, and respond to emergency animal services assignments.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Establish and maintain connections with foster volunteers and networks to enhance collaboration and support, align efforts, and achieve goals.
* Maintain an organized, accessible list, including contact information of foster volunteers, and their preferred placements.
* Assist in identifying animals from the shelter that are suitable for fostering.
* Communicate regularly with foster volunteers and ACS staff regarding the status of animals, including any medical requirements, adoption waivers, etc.

* Conduct behavior evaluations as needed for cats, dogs, and other animals.
* Humanely euthanize and disposes of animals as necessary.
* Act as a lead in the animal shelter over entry level animal care personnel, such as Animal Care Attendants; assign, schedule, inspect work, provide technical direction, determine priorities, and train staff and volunteers. May approve timecards and give input to the supervisor regarding performance evaluations, hiring, promotion, termination, and discipline of employees.
* Perform administrative duties such as completing and maintaining records (i.e., feeding, care needs, and holding periods for impounded animals, etc.), generating operational reports, maintaining inventories of food, equipment, supplies, animals, etc.

Councilmember-Elect Anthony Tordillos of District 3 Council Office is recruiting for a part-time Student Intern position. Are you passionate about making a difference in the community and interested in getting hands-on experience in policy development and communications? The Office of District 3 Councilmember Anthony Tordillos is seeking college student for a paid internship to support the office's policy, community, and outreach work. Interns will have the opportunity to gain direct experience in all facets of local government, from supporting the creation of new legislation and developing communications materials to leading on constituent casework. The internship will be 15-19 hours per week (with flexibility to accommodate class schedules); the internship period is for 4 months, with the option to extend as agreed by the office and the intern.
Positions in these unclassified civil service classifications are appointed "at will" with no property right to continued employment. Each appointment is for a specified period-of-time to be determined by the appointing Councilmember and does not extend past the end of the elected official's or appointing authority's term. Assignments may be on a project basis and/or as needed basis and will not be on predetermined employment time/term limitations.
Position Duties

The council intern will work closely with the office's Legislative, Communications, and Community Relations Directors to support the councilmember's work in the community and on the city council. Among other things, the intern will:
* Conduct policy research to support the councilmember's legislative priorities and draft well-written reports and memos summarizing findings
* Assist in the creation of social media content, physical materials, and the biweekly newsletter
* Staff the councilmember at meetings and support the planning and execution of District 3 community events and town halls
* Lead on constituent casework by working with city staff, community organizations, and government agencies to address resident concerns
* Attend meetings on behalf of the office with neighborhood associations and local agencies, take notes, and provide updates on any necessary follow-up.
