    Title: Maintenance Worker I Department: Airport Maintenance Rate of Pay: $14.50 The Maintenance Worker I is responsible for performing maintenance of airfield and airport facilities, including the interior and exterior of the passenger terminal. It also involves cleaning, washing, moping, sweeping, vacuuming, re-stocking supplies, etc. * Maintains airport grounds (airside and landside) free of trash, debris, and FOD (foreign object damage) * Thoroughly inspects and performs daily equipment and tool inspections; reporting mechanical defects, needed repairs, and damage upon daily inspection. * Complies with all State and local laws; Departmental policies, safety rules, and procedures. * Reports hazardous and dangerous conditions in and around the airport, including incidents/accidents immediately. * Communicates professionally and responsibly. * Is able to work in groups, and is a good team player. * Operates a two-way radio or other communication devices. * Performs other related work as required. Minimum Education & Experience High school or GED, or sufficient education to read and write with no experience. Six months of work related experience preferred. Special Certifications & Licenses Valid Texas Driver's License. Independence & Judgement Minimal judgment; instructions, once established and defined, normally allow the job to be accomplished without direct and/or constant supervision; mostly routine work requiring that employee recognize obvious problems. Your responsibilities: * Works on a Sports Field maintenance crew made up of three or more at the Texas Bank Sports Complex. * Primary duty is to operate and maintain various equipment such as rotary and/or reel mowers, tractors, skid steers, weed-eaters, trimmers, chain and pole saws, shovels, hoes, rakes, pruning shears, truck, trailer, blower, and other equipment involved in the maintenance of assigned areas. * Responsible for the development and maintenance of parks and sports field areas performing duties such as pesticide and fertilizer applications, aerification of turfgrass, mowing, string trimming, picking up trash, building maintenance, fence installation/removal, edging, planting, weeding flower beds, applying water to lawn area and flower beds, pruning trees, infield clay maintenance, etc. * May assist in the installation of sprinkler systems and perform irrigation repairs. * Position includes light construction, application of various pesticides, and other related/assigned duties as required. * Operates a variety of specialized equipment and performs general manual labor tasks in order to maintain parks, streets, infrastructure and City facilities as assigned; duties will vary according to job assignment and individual skills; responds to emergencies as needed. * Performs maintenance and repairs within scope of authority, and in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures, reports safety hazards, equipment problems and emergency situations. * Operates and maintains a variety of tools and specialized equipment. * Assists in the repair and maintenance of parks and roadways; maintains landscaping and grounds; clears trash, brush, weeds and debris from roadways, structures, grounds and facilities. * Cleans and maintains City facilities; makes minor facility repairs; assists with the construction of new facilities and installation of equipment. * Cleans and stores hazardous materials according to City policy and procedures. * Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm to include some over-time, weekends and holidays, (30-minute lunch). * Regular and timely attendance is required.
