ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the general supervision of Manager of the Hive and Manager of Library STEAM Programs, provides exceptional service in The Hive makerspace and other areas as needed and assists patrons with their use of a range of technologies.
* Responsible for overseeing The Hive during scheduled shifts.
* Maintains the orderly function of The Hive, including communicating with the Manager of the Hive, Manager of Library STEAM Programs, Manager of Innovation & Technology and other IT staff, enforcing the policies of the space and the library, and troubleshooting technical issues.
* Introduces patrons to the space; leads safety orientation and trainings on individual equipment; Responds to inquiries about use of the space and technologies in it.
* Provides technical support and strategies to implement project design/fabricate prototypes to a wide variety of users inside The Hive and in other locations as required.
* Provides training, orientations, logistical, and technical support to staff and patrons.

The Community Safety Department (CSD) is hiring non-public safety personnel who will provide key community services focused on behavioral health crisis (mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use), violence prevention and intervention, and overall wellness. The primary program of CSD is the Community Assistance Response and Engagement (CARE) Teams. CARE is an alternative response model that is dispatched to 911 calls for non-violent behavioral health crises. In addition, the teams conduct routine community outreach and follow up to address needs identified to assist individuals and families to improve health and quality of life. The CARE Teams are staffed by a licensed clinician and responders who may have a human services or medical background. The City established the CSD in response to a City Council policy order to develop an unarmed alternative response program, as well as in response to community concerns about supporting Cambridge's most vulnerable residents and enhancing violence prevention effort. ABOUT THE ROLE:
The purpose of this position is to provide clinical and programmatic leadership for the CARE Team and assist with the overall functioning of the Community Safety Department. There are two Assistant Directors of Clinical Services (ADCS) that share supervisory duties that ensure the quality of clinical work and empower staff to advance to further levels of competency. The ADCS's work with the CSD Leadership Team to set the tone in creating a work culture of compassion, learning, mutual respect and humility. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* With support of the Center for Families Program Manager and Baby U Family Services Coordinator, supervise Baby U staff.
* Manage Baby U evaluation efforts, including the gathering of data and its analysis. Ensure that program improvements, based on evaluations, are integrated.
* Manage overall Baby U budget in collaboration with Director of Community Engagement and Family Support Division and CFF program manager.

* Conduct home and/or community visits to families enrolled in the program and carry a small caseload of families.

* Alongside the Baby U Family Services Coordinator, order and organize materials for Baby U Core Program, including developmentally-appropriate books, toys, and classroom supplies.
* In collaboration with the Program Manager and Baby U Family Services Coordinator, prepare annual program calendar that includes one Core Program and Baby U Alumni Association events: support groups, workshops, field trips, and community building events.
* Hold current and future concrete support projects for Baby U families, including holiday support and back-to-school resources.
* Oversee childcare implementation and staffing. Identify, interview, and hire childcare workers for Core Program and Alumni Association events. Train and supervise childcare workers during Core Program. Ensure there are adequate resources to provide safe and appropriate care for the number of children enrolled in childcare. * With Baby U Family Services Coordinator and Baby U staff, create and implement recruitment plan for Baby U core program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Conduct research on best practices in climate resilience and assist in maintaining partnerships with academic and technical experts for local application.
* Assist in the coordination and tracking of actions outlined in the Resilient Cambridge plan, including helping with plan updates and interdepartmental collaboration.
* Assist with the update of the city-wide Extreme Heat Protocol.
* Support community-based projects and assist in engagement with local organizations and stakeholders to ensure inclusive and equitable participation.
* In collaboration with OoS Communications, assist with public communication and outreach efforts related to climate preparedness and resilience, including events, materials, and digital content.
* Assist with administrative tasks such as consultant coordination, grant research, and documentation of program activities and outcomes.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience:
* Experience researching and synthesizing complex ideas.
* Some experience with community engagement and outreach
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Some knowledge of climate resilience challenges.
* A passion for issues and ideas in the fields of climate change, environmental justice, extreme heat, environment, and/or community engagement.
* Willing to be nimble and creative in responding to the needs of community members and consultants.
* Comfortable with slide deck creation from general notes.
* Ability to be self-directed with guidance from City staff.
* Ability to remain flexible and thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
* Ability to remain in Cambridge outside of standard school calendar year.

Start Date and Duration: February 2026 start date with minimum commitment through February 2027.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICE PROGRAMS: The Department of Human Service Programs (DHSP) creates and coordinates services that enhance the quality of life for Cambridge residents. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Share mastery level of an art form with students for enrichment afterschool classes
* Be responsible for the overall management of your assigned afterschool enrichment class.
* Work with program assistants that may be assigned to the classroom.
* Develop and implement a quality age-appropriate curriculum in a specialty area
* Directly supervise the safety of children
* Help create an environment that fosters a positive self-image and respects the social and cultural differences of each child and values each child's strengths, needs, differences, and similarities.
* Maintain an open, friendly, on-going communication with families about the progress of participants
* Responsible for classroom maintenance, equipment, and supplies
* Communicate any needed supplies for programming 1 month in advance
* Report any out-of-the-ordinary incidents and accidents to program administrators.
* Check in and out with Director or Program Director daily for open communication concerning children's progress and any concerns that may arise.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Experience and Education
* Be at least 20 years of age.
* Mastery level of specialty.
* Have at least one-year experience working with school age children.
* Experience working with children with special needs desirable and should have a strong interest in working with children from diverse cultural & economic backgrounds.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* First Aid and CPR certification highly desired (First Aid & CPR training available upon hire).
