City of Cedar Park company history timeline

1973

In 1973, the residents voted to incorporate the City of Cedar Park.

1979

In 1979, a group of concerned Cedar Park citizens brought a proposition before the Mayor and City Council advocating for a local library.

1980

In December of 1980, the city hired Pauline Lam to serve as the Library Director.

1981

The Library officially opened on January 17, 1981 in a small facility in Cedar Park Plaza.

2001

In 2001 voters approved a second general Revenue Bond Issue for $60,095,000 with $45,000,000 for City Streets; $10,600,000 for Parks and related projects; $1,875,000 for Fire Fighting Facilities; $1,000,000 for Municipal Facilities; and $1,620,000 for a Police/Municipal Court Building.

Expanded 25,500 sq ft library building at 550 Discovery Blvd (2001-present).

2009

In 2009, Cedar Park Center, a multi-sports and entertainment venue now known as H-E-B Center at Cedar Park, opened with George Strait as the featured performer.

2015

In the November 2015 voters approved bond funding for a new library.
