City of Clermont company history timeline
Founded in 1884, the city of Clermont, FL is named after the birthplace of one of its French founders, A.F. Wrotnoski.
They were the first African-American residents to settle in Clermont in 1895.
The original was built in 1914 by the current City Hall.
When it opened in 1956, one could see the acres and acres of citrus groves from the top level and take in all the beauty of the land.
Though once upon a time the area was covered in citrus and orange groves, a triple freeze in the 1980’s sadly took out most of the groves.
After that, the building moved to the Historic Village in 2009.
