About this Position
The Animal Shelter Specialist is responsible for the daily care, feeding, and welfare of animals in the shelter, including cleaning kennel areas and cages. They also administer medicines, assist the vet with spay/neuter surgeries, and euthanize animals as needed. They also assist the public and help with the operation of the shelter.
This position requires weekend availability, so employees must be flexible to adjust hours as needed. Scheduled days and hours may vary and will be determined based on the needs of the department.
Qualifications
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must be able to obtain Chemical Euthanasia Technician certification
High school diploma or GED equivalent
7 to 11 months of related experience and/or training
Or
equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably with the care, welfare, and handling of animals
Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier
Responsibilities
Care for the shelter animals by feeding, watering, cleaning, and grooming animals
Prepare documentation, maintain files, and enter data into specialized software
Assist with animal evaluations
Educate the public on the proper care of animals
Prepare animals for adoption and assist with their adoption process
Answer telephone calls and assist callers
Administer medications and vaccines
Conduct health checks and health tests
Perform the euthanasia and disposal of animals

About the Position
The Solid Waste Services Division of Edmond Public Works provides waste collection and disposal services to residential households and commercial establishments within Edmond. Services include collection of weekly waste, curbside recycling, monthly bulk items, and city-coded bag disposal.
The Solid Waste Truck Driver will perform skilled work by operating heavy-duty packer refuse collection trucks. They are responsible for operating and maintaining a heavy-duty refuse collection truck equipped with a hydraulic powered packer and dump; transporting waste loads to the landfill and/or transfer station for disposal; and maintaining, repairing, and delivering refuse containers requiring some assembly and sub-assembly processes.
Responsibilities
Operate heavy-duty packer refuse collection trucks
Dump residential carts or commercial style containers into the truck
Transport waste to the transfer station, which may include servicing roll off containers
Leave notifications for customers
Report violations of regulations to the supervisor
Read & understand route sheets to determine street address & type of services needed
Leave notice messages and/or instructions to homeowners about special services
Maintain equipment by performing minor vehicle maintenance, such as:
checking tire inflation
cleaning the cab
washing the truck's exterior
Report any maintenance needs to the supervisor or to the garage

About the Position
The Field Services Maintenance Apprentice is a heavy labor, mechanical-based position to maintain the City's streets, water distribution systems, and wastewater distribution/collection systems. This position is for anyone who is willing to learn and wants to do a good job with a good attitude. Apprentices have a 4-day workweek with 10-hour days and a working lunch period. They may be asked to work on-call, and there are opportunities for overtime.
Upon hire, the Field Services Maintenance Apprentice will be enrolled in the United States' Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program. Once they complete one year of service and obtain the required skills, they will be reclassified as a Technician I and obtain a higher salary grade. (To date, the City of Edmond is the only municipality that can provide a distinguished DOL Journeyman Certification to Field Service professionals who have passed the Technician-I level.) This progression continues with completed training and years of service to advance to the higher levels in the program. The ability to earn higher pay is directly proportional to progressing through the levels of expertise with demonstrated proficiency.
Options Pay: Additional pay may be earned by obtaining identified job-related certifications, as approved and coordinated through the Field Services Superintendent or his designee. This is a flat amount added to your paycheck on a monthly basis.
Apprentices will shadow and assist their team until they can perform work with minimal supervision. A new hire is on probation for a full year, with performance evaluations completed at six months and at the end of the probation period. As a safety/security sensitive position, the new hire is subject to pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, and random drug & alcohol screening.

Street:

Job Summary:
Responds to both emergency and non-emergency calls and provides resources to
assist those in need. Acts as first point of contact in an emergency, obtaining
essential information and sending the appropriate responders to the right
location. Performs job while remaining calm and calming others. Monitors jail
activities and provide limited assistance to inmates.
Major Responsibilities:
* Responds to Emergency calls for police, fire and medical services.
* Responds to non-emergency calls, providing information and resources to
citizens.
* Answers, relays, and/or broadcasts Emergency calls to police, fire and
medical services.
* Monitors activities of police, fire and community service officers.
* Answers, relays, and/or broadcasts calls for community service officers and
other law enforcement agencies.
* Monitors jail activities via closed circuit TV.
* Performs searches on incoming arrests, as appropriate.
* Enters data in both state and department computers.
* Receives bond money and completes appropriate release documents.
* Maintains logs and reports for jail, state computer, and Enhanced 911 phone
system.
* Provides limited assistance to inmates such as the preparation/serving of
meals, conducting hourly checks, and personal assistance such as telephone
calls, etc.
* Maintains cleanliness of the jail, booking, and work areas.
* Participates in the training and/or orientation of probationary Public
Safety Telecommunicators.
* Cross trains and performs other duties as assigned, including assisting
other departments as required.
Minimum Qualifications & Required Knowledge:
* Valid Class D Oklahoma Driver License.
* High school graduate or GED.
* One to two years of experience in a related field.
* Possession or ability to obtain the following within six (6) months of hire:
o Oklahoma Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (OLETS) Certification
o Basic Jail Training (Jailer) Certification
o Notary Public
o Dispatcher Certification - Ongoing yearly requirement of forty (40) hours
* Knowledge of personnel laws, policies, and regulations.
* Knowledge of relevant city, state, and federal laws, regulations, and
policies.
* Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
* Knowledge of computer operated dispatching system.
* Knowledge of records management system.
* Knowledge of principles and practices of municipal emergency management.
