ASOC also partners with Crime Solvers, a non-profit organization that handles a tip program for assisting law enforcement. What you will learn: * Purpose: To provide a basic understanding of the Analytic & Strategic Operations Center and how it supports departmental goals, investigations, and real-time response. * Summary: This internship will include a brief overview of the daily tasks, meetings, and databases utilized by the Analytic and Strategic Operations Center (ASOC) staff. In addition, the intern will have a better understanding of how the ASOC supports the department and will showcase this new knowledge through the completion of a project. * The Police Intern responsibilities include: * The intern will receive training related to all subject matters related to the ASOC. The purpose of these "ride alongs" are to better educate the intern on how the ASOC supports them. * The intern will participate in Crime Solvers events and meetings, observing and participating in the collaborative efforts to engage with the community. The intern will help with the planning of events and potential innovation as the role of Crime Solvers with ASOC evolves. * In the final two weeks of the internship, the intern will present ASOC with a comprehensive SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis. * With their own college experience, the intern will also propose strategies for developing career paths for potential applicants to the unit. * Perform other work as required.
