1953

On May 23, 1953, Henderson, with its population of 7,410, elected Doctor Jim French as the town's first Mayor.

1977

Levi Strauss & Company opens its doors in 1977.

1982

The Henderson Convention Center is built in 1982.

1988

May 4, 1988 fire destroys the PEPCON plant.

1999

By 1999 Henderson overtook Reno as Nevada's second largest city.

2003

The city celebrated its 50 year birthday in 2003.

2010

Local estimates project the 2010 population will reach 310,000 as a steady stream of new residents and businesses continue to be attracted to the area.
