Under general supervision, the Surface Water Treatment Plant Maintenance Technician performs highly skilled maintenance and repair work on pumps, motors and other water production and treatment equipment. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Meets with supervisors to obtain daily tasks and work orders. * Performs preventative maintenance on water and chemical pumps; conducts inspections to identify repair or maintenance needs. * Test operations and troubleshoots pump issues. * Cleans algae and other debris from basins. * Maintains inventory of parts needed to complete maintenance and repairs. * Performs related duties as required or assigned. PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS Work is performed at treatment facilities and various locations throughout the City and requires exposure to standing water, hazardous chemicals, electrical hazards, and potentially dangerous tools and equipment.
