Kettering company history timeline

1958

Kettering died on November 25, 1958.

1964

Two years later, the hospital was dedicated, and on March 3, 1964, Kettering Memorial Hospital admitted its first patients.

1967

In 1967, Kettering College opened adjacent to the hospital, offering degrees in health science and related fields.

1977

Newborough Shopping Centre opened in 1977.

1990

The 1990’s is when the business started to struggle.

1998

The General Motors Institute (originally the Flint Institute of Technology), an automotive trade school for factory workers, was renamed the Kettering Institute in 1998.

2013

In 2013, Kodak was able to emerge from chapter 11 bankruptcy.

2015

The new technology was completed in 2015 at the Kettering facility with assistance from the staff in Rochester, N.Y. The company was only able to employ 400 workers in the Kettering location.

2020

In 2020 the population of Kettering was about 103,000.
