The benefits are great, but staying for awhile is not likely due to a harsh culture.
Lafayette employment has taken a drastic turn for the worse! Since the interim City Administrator was appointed, many highly effective, valuable employees are leaving the city due to a extreme cultural shift. The current iCM boasts they do not believe in chain-of-command and routinely reaches below supervisors to direct reports, including within the police and fire ranks. This is dangerous and comes back to supervisors in the form of anxieties, with employees reporting the iCM was abrupt and rude with demands or comments creating worries of retaliation if they report the incident. There are several reports circulating that the iCM is both age and gender bias with reports of them boldly displaying this attitude to their circle of chosen direct reports. To include trying to recruit others into that circle, creating an us vs them culture. Mayor J.D. Magnet, please investigate this with HR as there are many more of us working to get out of the city due to the issues going on.
The retirement benefit is fantastic with an immediate vesting.
The previous City Administrator was making real positive change.
The current Interim City Administrator is causing very negative changes within the culture creating anxiety concerning bias-nous and retaliatory behavior.
Interviewing here is all over the board with some as group, panel. individual.
