John S. Todd, City Attorney Emeritus of Lakewood and best known for establishing the Lakewood Plan as a model for local government, died at age 89 on August 30, 2008.

In March, 2013, the scheduled General Municipal Election was again cancelled as there were no more candidates than the number of offices to be filled.
