Laredo, city, seat (1848) of Webb county, southern Texas, United States, on the Rio Grande (there bridged to Nuevo Laredo, Mexico), 150 miles (240 km) southwest of San Antonio.
Established in 1849, this small fort played a pivotal role in the Mexican-American war.
