Qualifications: Applicants must be 21 years of age or older at the time of employment and preferred to possess Utah P.O.S.T Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) certification in good standing or be certifiable prior to date of employment. Applicants must possess a valid Utah driver's license or have the ability to obtain one prior to employment. Applicants who are currently serving as Police Officers may be given preference in the testing process. Applicants should be able to demonstrate knowledge of community-oriented policing, patrol operations, criminal investigations, report writing, and safety standards related to the use of vehicles, firearms, and other police equipment.
Compensation and Benefits: Starting wage for full-time officers with experience is $29.69/hour. Years of full-time law enforcement experience may be matched, up to 8 years, depending upon qualifications and certifications, at the discretion of the Chief of Police. Full insurance benefits are effective immediately. Police officers generally have opportunities for overtime. Benefits include city paid retirement (based on 2236 hours/year) in the URS system, city paid medical and dental insurance, sick-time accrual, long-term disability insurance, $100 per month uniform allowance, and 12 paid holidays per year (121 hours).

Physical Demands and Work Environment: Lehi City Police Officers generally work 7-12 hours shifts per pay period, totaling 86 hours every two weeks. Tasks require a variety of physical activities periodically involving muscular strain related to walking, standing, stooping, sitting and reaching. JOB SUMMARY

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Participates in city-wide urban forestry program, documents tree inventory; Tree removal, pruning, stump grinding and chipping. Capacity for focus on the task at hand and able to be aware of their surroundings. Work zone safety setup including but not limited to the placement of cones and signs, gear stations, and moving or marking targets within the drop zone Performs and coordinates general landscape and gardening duties; plants and transplants trees, shrubs, bushes, grass, flowers etc. as directed to develop attractive parks and grounds; performs various fertilization techniques using dry and liquid chemicals.
2. Operates a variety of types of small, light and heavy equipment such as mowers, sod cutters, chain saws, chippers, stump grinders, backhoe, loaders, mini-excavators, trenchers, aeration tractor, and various hand tools; performs routine and regular maintenance on equipment to assure efficiency and safety.
3. Participates and identifies need to initiate various aspects of programs related to the prevention or eradication of pests that may be harmful to trees, shrubs and other environs; selects appropriate chemicals and combinations to accomplish task; maintains records of spraying activities; assures chemicals are properly stored and used in conformity with city, state, or federal regulations; operates spray or injection equipment.
4. Physical stamina and strength to carry out physical labor and lift heavy loads. Frequent standing, squatting, bending, walking, lifting heavy objects, properly loading, and unloading, all while being exposed to adverse weather conditions (rain/snow and extreme heat/cold). The noise level in the work environment is usually high.
5.
