City of Lenexa company history timeline
Founded in 1869, Lenexa is a well-planned community located about 12 miles south of Kansas City, Mo.
By 1870 Na-Nex-Se was no longer listed on any Johnson County census and is presumed to have died by that date.
Thus, Lenexa was born in 1869 and the post office established at Sherman in 1865 was moved to a site near the railroad depot and was called the Lenexa post office. It was not incorporated, however, until May 8, 1907.
In fact, city leaders first envisioned the development in a strategic planned capped off in 1997, fully 20 years before last summer’s ribbon cutting.
Vision, Mission and Values In 2011, the City of Lenexa established new Vision, Mission and Values statements to serve as guiding principles and convey the city staff’s shared purpose in serving the Lenexa community.
