About the Division
The Parking Division resides within Transportation and Parking Operations and provides a comprehensive range of services aimed at meeting the needs of businesses, downtown employees, visitors, convention, cultural and sports facilities, special
events, schools and residents. Services include:
* Operations and maintenance of the City's public parking facilities: eight garages and six surface lots totaling over 7,000 parking spaces, and 2,500 on-street metered parking spaces utilizing smart meter, and multi-space meter technologies.
* Management of vendor contracts, including a Parking Operations vendor responsible for day-to-day management of off-street facilities and Security vendor responsible for parking facility security and parking enforcement field investigations.
* Parking compliance activities supporting traffic safety, street cleanliness and maintenance activities, turnover of on-street spaces in business districts; and enhanced neighborhood quality-of-life through the removal of vehicles abandoned or stored in the public right-of-way.
* Collection of fines from parking citations and oversight of administrative review process for contested citations.
* Development and implementation of transportation and parking operation plans for a variety of special events, including provision of traffic control during events.

Position Duties
The Department of Transportation (DOT) is looking to potentially fill three (3) vacancies for Parking/Ground Transportation Administrator. Each role has a distinct focus: one leads the on-street vehicle abatement efforts, another oversees on-street enforcement programs, and the third manages the daily operations of off-street parking lots and garages.
On-Street Vehicle Abatement Parking/Ground Transportation Administrator
The On-Street Vehicle Abatement Parking/Ground Transportation Administrator is a newly created position within the Division, reporting to the Vehicle Abatement Parking Manager. This role will oversee the launch and management of the City's initiative to address vehicle blight and maintain street cleanliness across the City.
New Program Services Include:
* Oversee the citywide enforcement of oversized and lived-in vehicles.
* Lead efforts to inventory oversized and lived-in vehicles parked on streets citywide.
* Analyze data to develop and implement a site/location prioritization strategy.
* Manage internal and external outreach, including delivering presentations to community stakeholders.
* Implement temporary and permanent parking restrictions, such as tow-away zones.
* Oversee enforcement activities, including towing, enhanced cleaning, and street-sweeping in designated zones/areas.
* Track program progress and outcomes, providing regular status reports.

Under direction, the On-Street Vehicle Abatement Parking/Ground Transportation Administrator performs complex professional, analytical, and administrative work in the development, implementation, and management of parking programs and contracts related to on-street parking enforcement operations.
This role includes one direct report-a Parking and Traffic Control Supervisor-and oversees eighteen (18) indirect reports, comprising two (2) Senior Parking and Traffic Control Officers (Sr. PTCOs) and sixteen (16) PTCOs.
The successful candidate will lead, manage, and motivate a team of nineteen (19) staff members by setting clear goals, fostering an innovative work environment, maximizing staff development, and recognizing achievements appropriately.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee the day-to-day management of the Parking Compliance Unit's Vehicle Abatement Program.

The PCU oversees citywide enforcement of parking regulations and provides various services, including proactive patrols, school safety, residential permit enforcement, and street sweeping. The Meter Shop handles the installation, maintenance, and revenue collection for approximately 2,500 on-street parking meters.
This position has two (2) direct reports: a Parking and Traffic Control Supervisor and a Senior Maintenance Worker, and oversees forty-seven (47) indirect reports, including four (4) Senior Parking and Traffic Control Officers (Sr. PTCOs), thirty-six (36) PTCOs, one (1) Staff Specialist, and six (6) Maintenance Workers.
The successful candidate will plan, coordinate, assign, and supervise the work of employees engaged in parking enforcement and meter operations through subordinate supervisors.
Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will lead a team that works closely with Downtown businesses and residents, community groups, associations, Council Offices, the Downtown Parking Board, the Convention Center and Cultural Facilities operator, and other City departments to deliver off-street parking services. They will ensure that the off-street parking program consistently provides the highest level of customer service, minimizes costs, and maximizes cash flow to the City.

* Develop, implement, and manage agreements and contracts related to off-street parking operations, including major projects like facade and elevator modernization, and security program analysis.

Position Duties
The San José Fire Department (SJFD) is seeking to fill multiple Senior Public Safety Dispatcher positions in the Communications Division.
Senior Public Safety Dispatchers (Senior PSDs) are responsible for supervising a team of Public Safety Radio Dispatchers (PSRDs) assigned to a shift in the Communications Center. PSRD is the journey-level class for public safety dispatching within the City of San José wherein incumbents are required to handle the full range of telephone answering and dispatch functions.
Responsibilities of the Senior PSD include, but are not limited to the following:
Supervising PSRDs, including approving time-off and other scheduling requests in accordance with the established guidelines.
Assigning PSRDs to work the various dispatch positions within the Communications Center.

Water Treatment Operators will be required to work with hazardous chemicals. The City of San Jose, Animal Care and Services Division is seeking Veterinarians to work at the Animal Care Center, including one full-time in either/or, shelter medicine and/or the shelter's public high quality, high volume spay/neuter clinic. The Animal Shelter Veterinarian may perform all aspects of shelter medicine in a large animal shelter. Duties may include routine spay/neuter surgeries on cats, dogs, and other animals as indicated. This position provides direct care and treatment of homeless animals entering the City of San Jose's Animal Care Center.
In addition, this position is required to diagnose, treat, and/or recommend euthanasia. Registered Veterinary Technicians will be assigned to assist this position with the preparation and post-surgery processes of spay/neuter and other surgical procedures. This is a position reporting to the Shelter Manager of Animal Care and Services. This classification is represented by City Association of Management Personnel (CAMP).
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
Directs, coordinates and performs the screening, diagnosis, and basic and emergency medical treatment of animals in the shelter.

Passing Score for Qualifying Multiple-Choice Test

Position Duties
The Council District Offices 2 and 10 are recruiting for positions. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This is an entry and training level classification in the Animal Control Officer series. Family Camp at Yosemite located in the Sierras, about 10 miles west of Yosemite National Park. It is a self-contained summer recreational facility run by the City of San José. About the Watershed Protection Division:
The Watershed Protection Division strives to preserve and sustain natural aquatic resources by connecting people to their watershed, the San Francisco Bay, and helping them understand how their daily activities affect water quality. The Watershed Protection Division is approximately 100 employees and is responsible for stormwater management, environmental enforcement, source control and laboratory services.
Stormwater Management coordinates a wide array of activities, such as education, outreach, trash reduction and collaboration with County wide stakeholders to protect and to prevent pollution into the waterways. Environmental Enforcement provides inspection, education, and enforcement services to ensure that local discharges into the storm and sanitary sewers meet regulatory requirements and protect water quality. The Pretreatment Program administers federal requirements that includes permitting and compliance monitoring to industrial that discharges into the sanitary sewer system and Region Wastewater Facility. Lastly, Laboratory Services provides scientific analysis for monitoring operations and compliance at the Regional Wastewater Facility which addresses water quality issues entering the Bay.
Position Duties
Salary ranges for this classification are:
Microbiologist I: $102,88.24 - $125,034.00 Annually
Microbiologist II: $113,393.28 - $137,766.72 Annually
Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates' qualifications and experience. The salary ranges include an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation pay.
These positions work on-site at the Regional Wastewater Facility in Laboratory Services located at 4245 Zanker Road, San Jose, CA 95134. Hybrid work is not available for Microbiologist positions. Wastewater Microbiologist positions for the San Jose Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility Laboratory. Wastewater Microbiologists will perform technical and professional work involving the microscopic, microbiological, and chemical analysis of water, wastewater, receiving waters, and by-products of the wastewater treatment processes.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Performs microbiological, and chemical analyses on water, wastewater, industrial waste, and related samples for specific inorganic and organic substances.
Conducts regular microscopic examinations to identify bacterial, protozoan, and metazoan organisms associated with the wastewater treatment process.
Performs the biomonitoring testing requirements within the laboratory, including the care and maintenance of aquatic species used in bioassays.

Maintains equipment by performing assigned maintenance activities and troubleshoots unexpected problems.

NON-CAREER PART-TIME/SEASONAL DEFINITION To supervise the pool, water, decks, and ancillary areas of an aquatic facility; ensure safety through accident prevention, first aid, and rescue techniques; enforce rules and regulations, prevent accidents, and render and effect swimming rescues; instruct and supervise aquatic classes and activities.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Direct supervision is provided by a Pool Manager. This position does not supervise.The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all the listed duties and/or may be required to perform related duties as needed.
* Maintain constant surveillance as assigned to safeguard swimmers from drowning and other accidents.
* Rescue and resuscitate drowning persons.
* Rescue and aid persons affected by life threatening injuries.
* Enforce facility rules, regulations, and procedures; take appropriate action to prevent dangerous situations and accidents.
* Render care in the latest American Red Cross techniques in water safety, lifeguarding, first aid, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (C.P.R.) to persons in need of assistance.
