The anticipated hiring range for the Parks Worker position is $21.79 (first step) to $22.88 or $24.02 (second or third step). The City of Medford determines starting pay based on an evaluation of relevant education, experience, and qualifications as provided by the applicant in their application materials, alongside others who perform work of comparable character consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act. Six steps are included in this salary range, allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps. Employees may qualify for wellness incentives by completing milestones set within the program up to $200 annually * Access to the City's fully equipped fitness center 24/7 Essential Functions of the Position: * Performs general clean up, facility maintenance, landscape maintenance and irrigation of City grounds and beautification areas. * Grooms City grounds by mowing, trimming and edging turf and applying fertilizers and herbicides. * Maintains City grounds: planting beds, walkways, special use areas, etc. by pruning, mowing, blowing, spraying, fertilizing, trimming and edging of City landscapes and turf areas. * Drives City vehicle to various parks and other work locations. * Operates a variety of equipment to include mowers, tractors, large dump bed trucks, front end loaders, backhoes, skid steers, turf care equipment, spray equipment, etc. * Performs weed abatement activities utilizing Integrated Pest Management Strategies. * Irrigates grounds as necessary; monitors irrigation systems and performs basic repairs to damaged or malfunctioning sprinklers. * Cares for plants through watering, weeding, and trimming. * Inspects Park playground equipment as directed; removes possible hazards to ensure safety. * Adheres to safety practices and standards when performing all duties. * Performs preventative maintenance of equipment such as fluid checks, mower blade sharpening, tire filling and patching, cleaning, etc. * Scope of assigned area will depend on departmental and/or citywide operational structure and is at the discretion of the Supervisor. WVCC currently employes 63 Communication Specialists, six Communication Shift Supervisors, one Training coordinator, one Operations Center Manager, one Technical Services Manager, one Management Analyst, two Administrative Analysts and two Technical Services Staff. WVCC is the second busiest Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) in Oregon, dispatching 29 police, fire and medical agencies across Lincoln, Marion and Polk Counties. WVCC handles emergency services for roughly 421,311 people. In 2024, WVCC handled 209,104 emergency 911 calls and 215,599 non-emergency phone calls. Roughly 2,906 square miles. Medford Police Department is recruiting for multiple part-time School Marshals. School Marshals patrol school grounds during hours when school is in session. This part-time work schedule is typically for a 25-hour work week, during the school year; these hours are flexible, depending on the school's needs. We are looking for candidates who are highly motivated with good communication skills. The ideal candidate will value teamwork and collaboration and exemplify integrity, trust, and commitment to those we serve. Required Education & Experience: Must have five (5) years of experience as a certified Police Officer. Have a current Oregon DPSST Police Officer certification; or Have a current out-of-state Police Officer certification in good standing with the ability to obtain an Oregon DPSST number. Special Qualifications: Must be willing to maintain Oregon DPSST certification as required by DPSST. Must meet DPSST established physical standards. Collaborate and work in conjunction with the Medford SRO Program. Engage with individuals who are coming on campus to ensure they are supposed to be there. Observe and report to responding School Resource Officers or Police Officers. Act as a liaison, when necessary, between the schools, district office administration, and the police department. Alert District Office if there are any facility or grounds issues that may result in a safety/security issue. Collaborate with school principal, district administrators, and faculty regarding school safety. Attend professional development activities supporting the Marshal program. Testify in court as needed. Furnishes information to the public regarding the programs. Upholds the values of the organization and has strong customer service orientation.
