Hiring Bonus: The Water Resources Department is excited to offer a hiring bonus for individuals newly hired as Water Resources Plant Operator Trainee/I/II/III. New Water Resources Operator's may be eligible for a $3,500 incentive at the conclusion of Initial City Probation. To receive the bonus, an Operator must work as a Plant Operator for one year and receive a successful performance evaluation.
This recruitment will be used to fill current vacancies at a Wastewater Treatment plant at either the Operator Trainee, I, II or III level; however, this recruitment will also be used to create a list to fill possible future vacancies at any level. Offering salary may be made above the minimum of the posted salary range for this position depending upon qualifications and experience. Employees may progress through the full salary range, subject to their successful performance and annual budget approval.

Water Resources Plant Operator Trainee ($41,660.94 - $57,06.93)
A Water Resources Plant Operator Trainee is responsible for learning the basic technical aspects related to the operations and basic maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment plants. A trainee shall receive hands-on training by assisting with and participating in wastewater treatment plant processes for operations, maintenance, and analytical laboratory testing. Duties include assisting with plant operations and basic equipment maintenance including all processes related to the treatment of wastewater. All Water Resources Plant Operator Trainee's shall use appropriate safety equipment and follow safety procedures in performing assignments. Trainees have the potential to be exposed to job related hazards such as toxic chemicals, chlorine gas, ozone, raw sewage, sludge, and adverse weather conditions. This class performs other duties as required.
This is a trainee class in which the employee learns to perform the full scope of a Water Resources Plant Operator I through on-the-job training. An employee in this class is trained in entry level assignments related to the technical aspects of Wastewater Treatment. The Trainee shall receive close supervision from higher level Water Resources Operators and direction from the Water Resources Plant Supervisor, who reviews the employee's work in progress through meetings and by the evaluation of results achieved. A Trainee is expected to progress to a Water Resources Plant Operator I by non-competitive promotion upon meeting the specific criteria-based promotion requirements of experience, performance, certification, and on the job training. An incumbent who fails to complete the training and non-competitive, criteria-based promotion within one-year of hire into the position may be transferred, demoted, or terminated. Employees in this class may work evening or weekend shifts as part of their training program. This class is FLSA nonexempt.
Water Resources Plant Operator I ($55,831.78 - $76,472.86)
A Water Resources Plant Operator I is responsible for learning how to operate and maintain the City of Mesa's wastewater treatment plants during an assigned shift with guidance from more experienced Operators. Duties may include: maintaining and operating plant equipment and the processes related to the treatment of wastewater; operating valves, gates, and pumps; adjusting flow rates and chemical feed rate; collecting samples and submitting for laboratory testing; monitoring control panels, gauges, and meters; maintaining written data on test results, gauges, and meter readings; checking chemical tank levels; mixing chemical solutions; operating laboratory equipment to perform chemical analysis; preparing written logs; and relaying operational information to coworkers. Incumbents in this class will work only on a shift where an Operator II or higher is present. An Operator I may provide general guidance to lower-level plant operators. An employee in this class is expected to use appropriate safety equipment and follow safety procedures in performing assignments. Operator I's will be exposed to such job hazards as toxic chemicals, methane gas, chlorine gas, ozone, hydrogen sulfide, raw sewage, sludge, and adverse weather conditions. An employee in this class will learn to perform the full scope of a Water Resources Plant Operator II including learning to troubleshoot issues. This class is distinguished from the Water Resources Plant Operator Trainee class by the ability to operate with more independence and troubleshoot operational issues while working on shifts with more experienced operators present; and distinguished from the Operator II class by working on a shift where an experienced operator is present, while the latter may work on a shift independently. The Water Resources Plant Operator I receives close-to-general supervision from a Water Resources Operator II or higher and direction from the Water Resources Plant Supervisor, who reviews the employee's work in progress through meetings and by the evaluation of results achieved. A Water Resources Plant Operator I will be eligible to progress to the Water Resources Plant Operator II class by noncompetitive promotion upon meeting the specific criteria-based promotion requirements of experience, performance, certification, and on the job training. An incumbent who fails to complete the training and noncompetitive, criteria-based promotion within 15 months of hire into position may be transferred, demoted, or terminated. A Water Resources Plant Operator II performs journey-level work while learning to independently operate and maintain the City of Mesa's wastewater treatment plants during an assigned shift. A Water Resources Plant Operator III is responsible for managing the complex daily operations and maintenance of City of Mesa's wastewater treatment plants during an assigned shift. Duties include: analyzing trends and data; monitoring equipment and processes through all available means to include gauges, meters, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) inputs; documenting and reviewing ongoing plant process operations and maintenance issues; assisting in the formulation and implementation of procedural objectives and programs, optimizing day to day processes; economic utilization of materials and equipment; collecting and analyzing process samples using laboratory procedures; demonstrating thorough and complete documentation; and systematic reviewing of all process procedures and anomalies. This position assumes responsibility for plant operations while on assigned shift, weekends, or holidays. This class is distinguished from the Water Resources Plant Operator II class by being able to perform duties on all shifts with no supervision. WHAT DOES AN INTERN CASE MANAGER/CHILD SAFETY SPECIALIST DO?
A Child Safety Specialist offers valuable support and assistance to children and families in need. This role requires strong time management and critical thinking skills. A Child Safety Specialist assesses child safety and risk while working with families, agencies and the courts for case planning. This is a fast-paced environment, which requires organization, a high degree of expertise and skill in maintaining established quality and accuracy in work assignments. The essential job functions of a DCS Specialist Intern include, but are not limited to:
Job shadowing Case Managers, Case Aides, Administrative Assistants and Central Office staff
Providing tour opportunities at specialized offices such as the Placement Center
Updating regional community resources directories
Helping to support the Welcome Center team
Attend meetings such as court hearings, Team Decision Making Meetings, Child and Family Team Meetings
Provide care to children to include feeding, hygiene and supervision
Special projects that may include research and data entry
Potential Placements/Opportunities:
-Investigations: The Department has received a potential concern (report) and makes attempts to engage with the family to assess child safety. A determination is made as to whether the family requires intervention and to what degree.
-Ongoing: The Department has taken an action against family and there is an open court case. Our role is to continuously assess parents/children to make sure the appropriate services are in place to help improve the situation.
-In-Home: There are concerns with the family but they do not warrant court involvement. This tole requires consistent contact with the family to help address concerns while children continue to reside with the parents.
-Young Adult Program (YAP): Teenagers that have a high likelihood of becoming an adult while in the care of the state. This role helps coordinate teens learning to live on their own and acquire basic life skills to help their transition to adulthood.
-Adoptions: Parents have lost their rights to care for their children through a court order. This role strives to find the best solution for a long-lasting new home for the child/ren.
-Welcome Centers: As the legal caregiver for a child, DCS provides care and meets their needs while they wait for placement.
WHAT KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES ARE HELPFUL?
Knowledge of:

The Deputy Sheriff is responsible for ensuring the public safety of the citizens of Maricopa County and the State of Arizona in accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws, regulations and MCSO policies.
Criminal investigations
Conducts traffic and criminal investigations, using accepted methods and techniques to identify, secure, collect and protect evidence and crime scenes; conducts interviews with victims, witnesses, and suspects, gathering information, developing probable cause, making arrests and executing search warrants.
Response to calls for service
Responds quickly to emergency situations via department vehicle using vehicle's emergency equipment when needed (e.g., lights and sirens); determines the quickest and safest approach to an emergency scene; determines the best strategy for restoring or maintaining order and safety; uses defensive tactics and appropriate level of force, to include using assigned weapons (e.g., firearm, Taser, baton), to control a situation; issues warnings and/or citations to ensure public safety and compliance with the law.
Patrol duties
Maintains a safe and secure community by identifying and responding to in-progress criminal activity and unusual or suspicious circumstances, vehicles, packages; makes observations, writes reports, communicates with the public and provides a level of service required in conjunction with all local, state and federal laws, as well as all applicable policies and procedures of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office; engages the community in positive proactive policing practices to fulfill the departments mission, establishes strong ties and relationships within the community by conducting oneself in a professional, fair and transparent manner at all times.
Training
Attends, implements and provides all required training associated with the duties and functions of a law enforcement officer as specified by Arizona Police Officers Standards Training Board (POST) and the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
Administration
Interacts with the public and staff by effectively communicating verbally, and in writing, to direct, ascertain information, document incidents, requirements, needs and conditions within the facility; operates electronic and other equipment (e.g., telephones, portable radios, desktop and mobile computers, cameras); independently gathers information through a variety of methods in order to document information and actions; utilizes technology to access information and records, and documents in reports as required by policy.

JOB SUMMARY
Performs professional legal research and analysis on legal issues and reviews discovery in the Pinal County Public Defender's Office. Conducts, court hearings, negotiates pleas agreements, interviews witnesses, and conducts trials under the Supervision of a Defender Attorney.

Job Summary:
The Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA) is seeking a Law Intern to support the Governor's Regulatory Review Council (GRRC) in its core business processes. The extern will assist with tasks such as reviewing rulemaking submissions, conducting legal research, supporting preparations for monthly Council meetings and and potentially presenting at those meetings. This position provides a valuable opportunity for law students to gain hands-on experience in Arizona's rulemaking process and professional development in legal research, writing, and communication.
