With general boundaries of Vail Avenue on the northwest, Greenwood Avenue on the southeast, the Santa Fe rail line on the southwest, and Date Street on the northeast, at its peak in the 1920's, the brickyard expanded to 350 acres with a population of over 3,000 residents.
On December 05, 1922, New Secretary, Sarah F. Becker was instructed to write to Carmel Water Company requesting a sale price for 7 ½acres on Bluff Road and all rights of way owned by Carmel Water Company.
The new mayor of Montebello, Jack Hadjinian, is Armenian American and a third-generation resident of the city, his family having been in Montebello since 1957.
Located in Bicknell Park in West Montebello, the Armenian Genocide Memorial was built in 1968 and the tall stone sculpture can be seen from throughout Montebello and also from Garfield Boulevard a few miles north in Monterey Park.
