Assists passengers, including seniors and disabled, in boarding and exiting the vehicle as necessary. Secure mobility devices (wheelchairs, walkers, etc.) in the vehicle. * Provides general information to the public regarding Dial-A-Ride services. Logs all stops on daily route manifest, completes incident and accident reports, daily vehicle inspection reports and reports vehicle malfunctions. Complete company forms, maintain accurate trip data and use vehicle equipment such as onboard radio and computer system. * Completes daily Pre-Trip and Post-Trip vehicle inspections, interior cleaning and vehicle refueling. * Collects and records pre-established transit fares. The Peoria Police Department Communications Section is the lifeline between our community calling for help and our officers who respond to their calls. We answer 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls and dispatch resources using state-of-the-art technology. COME JOIN OUR TEAM! We are seeking strong team players who effectively communicate, are proficient with advancing technology, and can multitask and quickly adapt to change. ABOUT THE CAREER Peoria Police Communication Specialists are cross trained as call takers and radio dispatchers. They answer emergency and non-emergency calls using a multi-line telephone and 9-1-1 systems. Responsibilities include receiving, processing, and dispatching calls for service and providing information to personnel. This position requires shift work, and all employees must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays, as required. Also, lateral, full-time 911 Dispatchers have the ability to earn paid time off (up to 80 hours) based on previous experience in the same job function through our Award Leave program, if eligible. The position prepares reports, reviews building plans, inspects construction projects, and manages related compliance databases. This position exercises significant independent judgment in regulatory decision-making, policy development, enforcement actions, and technical determinations. Duties include developing program guidelines, managing permit processes, conducting inspections and field sampling, supervising staff, and performing extensive administrative work including documentation, reporting, and public education.
