POSITION PURPOSE:
Performs skilled industrial electrician duties on the journeyman level in the installation, repair, and maintenance of wastewater systems and equipment.
Essential Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
* Measures, cuts, installs and assembles electrical conduit using appropriate tools and equipment
* Responsible for electrical and mechanical operations in addition to repairs of Racine Wastewater treatment plant, field maintenance garage, lift stations, safety sites and other sites maintained by the utility.
* Plans layout and installs and repairs wiring, fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment
* Installs or connects power cables to equipment and provides for proper grounding
* Maintains and provides necessary repair to AC-DC control devices, AC-DC motors, commutators, transformers, cranes, hoists, elevators, batteries, power tools and appliances
* Wires switchboards, switchgears, transformers, meters, UPS, relays, and PLC's
* Tests continuity of circuits to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components
* Plans new or modified installations to minimize power failure, provide access for future maintenance and provide consistency with specifications and local regulations and code
* May prepare sketches showing wiring location and utilize diagrams or blueprints in updating specifications and locations
* Observes functioning of installed equipment to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement
* Performs related duties as assigned by Supervisor

Accounting, Audit, and Financial Reporting and Analysis:

This position will be responsible for oversight of one 18-hole course and one 9-hole course, with support from a Golf Course Superintendent 1 based at the 9-hole course.
This is advanced-level greenskeeping and planning work on multiple municipal golf courses and involves the performance of a wide variety of greenskeeping functions and responsibility for planning and maintenance activities. The work is characterized by independent judgment in the technical aspects of golf course maintenance. In coordination with the Golf Program Director, this position assists in planning for overall course needs and maintenance activities. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Golf Program Director, or other higher level staff, who reviews the work periodically (through inspection and/or administrative review) for compliance with program objectives.
The successful candidate will oversee a large staff of permanent and hourly employees and is expected to independently perform the required functions of the position.
The standard work week is 40 hours, with work hours generally falling between 5:00 am and 3:00 pm. Daily start and end times will vary by season depending on business need.
Pay increases will occur following the successful completion of 6, 18, 30, and 42 months of employment (or until the maximum step of the pay range is reached), subject to the Compensation Group 16/Range 15 salary schedule. Longevity pay increases begin at the start of the fifth year of continuous employment, consistent with the Madison General Ordinances and the Employee Benefits Handbook for General Municipal Employees ("the Handbook").
This position is eligible for overtime pay, consistent with the Handbook. It is expected that the employee will work 8-10 hours of weekly overtime to provide adequate coverage on weekends during the golf season. Environmental / Working Conditions of the Position:
* Exposure to outdoor weather conditions include extreme heat, extreme cold, wind, and rain.
* Exposure to open water with variable conditions including large waves, strong currents, and extreme cold.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* Possess a valid Driver's License.
* Completion of Sophomore year of High School.
* 16 years of age.
Preference will be given to high school graduates and college students.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
* Possession of a Lifeguard Certificate in good standing by the first day you are scheduled to work as a lifeguard. Preferably by June 1st, 2026.
* Successful completion of the North Beach Water Test (In the case there are more applicants than openings the top scoring applicants will move forward to the next phase. All others will be placed on a waiting list.)
* Ability to follow oral and written instructions with minimum direct supervision.
* Ability to communicate effectively, and exercise good judgement, courtesy and tact when dealing with the general public.
* Ability to respond to emergency situations in a calm, efficient and responsible manner.
* Be in good physical condition.
* Ability to operate City vehicles in a safe defensive driving posture.
* Must be able to swim 200 yards without stopping using either the front crawl or breaststroke or a combination of the two.
* Must be able to dive to a minimum depth of 12ft under water and swim forward at depth for a minimum of 20ft.

Physical Demands of the Position:
Duties involve the regular, and at times sustained, performance of heavier physical tasks such as swimming for long distances in rough waters, strong currents, walking/running over rough or uneven surfaces, bending, stooping, kneeling, leaping, jumping down, standing in place or continual walking, lifting and carrying of moderate to heavy items (including people) on a consistent basis.
Equipment Used:
Lifeguards may be asked to operate an outboard boat motor, full size pickup truck, Bobcat UTV, AED, rescue board, various lifeguard and first aid equipment, two-way radios, basic tools, and EMILY Rescue Drone.
Expected Work Schedule:
* Mandatory attendance of all Pre-Season Training and Meeting dates Mid to Late May - Exact times and dates TBD.
* Full-Time Status (40hrs/week) - Must be able to work any day of the week, including weekends and holidays, up to 5 days of 8-hour shifts.
* There are 2 shifts 9:40am to 5:40pm and 10:15am to 6:15pm
* Part Time Status (Less than 40hrs/week) - Based on availability of the applicant (within reason) - and must include at least one weekend day - preference will be given to FTE candidates.
* Mandatory attendance at all 8 Early Morning In-Service Training Sessions that take place before the start of the first shift. This is in addition to the FTE 40hrs and will receive overtime for these training hours.
