WORK SCHEDULE: The normal City work week is Monday through Thursday 8:00am to 6:00pm and alternating Fridays 8:00am-5:00pm. In addition, this position may be required to be available to work additional hours in response to peaks in workloads and changes in department needs and perform on-call duties. This position is governed by the overtime provisions of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for overtime pay.

* Performs advanced journey-level plant operations and maintenance work; monitors operations and maintenance of plant systems, processes and/or equipment to ensure proper operations and that standards are met. Position Duties
The total salary range for the Parks, Recreation, and Facilities Supervisor classification $112,563.36 - $137,220.72 annually.
This amount includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay. The actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates' qualifications and experience.
The Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services (PRNS) Department is currently seeking to fill one (1) Parks, Recreation, and Facilities Supervisor position in the Recreation Division overseeing the Citywide Aquatics Program. The position will be responsible for the oversight and administration of the Aquatics programs at six (6) city owned facilities including one (1) year-round program. The position is responsible for all related duties to the operation and maintenance of the programs and its facilities. This includes but is not limited to the development and implementation of the Learn to Swim Program, Recreation Swim Program, training programs, staff certifications, contracts with external partnerships, and management of Full Time and Part Time seasonal staff.
The position will also be responsible for the oversight of maintenance and related capital improvements necessary to maintain all City owned pools in good working order consistent with local, State, and Federal requirements. This includes but is not limited to daily pool chemistry checks, pool vacuuming, monitoring of automated pool chemistry systems, development of annual capital plan for pools, and any other necessary duties to maintain the pools in good working order.

The Parks, Recreation, and Facilities Supervisor (PRFS) positions perform duties that may require knowledge in a variety of subject areas, such as recreation, therapeutic recreation programs, and/or gerontology recreation programs, and care and shelter coordination. The PRFS assigned to the Recreation Division performs duties that may require knowledge in a variety of subject areas, such as recreation, therapeutic recreation programs, and/or gerontology recreation programs. The PRFS may be assigned to Community Center operations, Citywide service areas (including leisure, seniors, therapeutics, or aquatics). Community Center operations include responsibilities in leading a team at a multi service HUB including seniors, adults, and youth programs in addition to recreation programming throughout the Council District at satellite sites. PRFS' assigned to Citywide roles will be responsible for the administration and delivery of major citywide recreation programming related to the areas assigned to that PRFS. The positions must have the ability to constantly adjust to changing conditions and support a wide variety of customers, agencies, partners and department staff.
In some assignments the PRFSmay be responsible for ensuring the proper maintenance and operation of City Parks by supervising interpretive and education programs for City park users, ensuring safe, secure parks; maintaining and conserving natural features and wildlife in City parks and coordinating emergency services within parks, such as search and rescue and fire suppression. The positions must have the ability to constantly adjust to changing conditions and support a wide variety of customers, agencies, and department staff.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:Two (2) years of undergraduate coursework from an accredited college or university (equivalent to 60 semester units or 90 quarter units) AND four (4) years increasingly responsible experience in the maintenance and operations of a park or administering recreation programs, including two (2) years in a lead capacity.
Acceptable Substitution:Additional related experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the required experience. There is no substitution for the lead experience.
Required Licensing:As a condition of employment in some designated positions, possession of a valid State of California Class B driver's license with applicable endorsements may be required in the performance of job duties.

Under the direction of the Wastewater Electrical Supervisor, the Instrumentation & Control Technician is responsible for performing maintenance and repair tasks with plant staff and other city employees.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
* Inspect, test, calibrate, and repair wastewater treatment plant instrumentation such as flow meters, pressure sensors, level indicators, pH analyzers, turbidity sensors, and gas detectors.
* Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with electronic, pneumatic, and mechanical instruments.
* Perform preventative maintenance on control systems and instrumentation to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with regulations.
* Install, maintain, and troubleshoot SCADA systems, network hardware, and communication systems for the wastewater treatment facility and lift stations.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
The Instrumentation & Control Technician is the specialized journey level class responsible for maintaining treatment plant process control and communication equipment in effective and efficient working order.
WORK SCHEDULE
The Wastewater Maintenance work week is Monday through Thursday 6:00 am to 4:30 pm. Depending on the work assignment staff may be assigned to shifts that are outside the standard City work hours. In addition, this position is required to be available to work additional hours in response to peaks in workloads and changes in department needs. Incumbent may be required to work stand-by on rotational basis and report to work on a callback basis as needed within a designated time frame. Standby assignment is at the discretion of the Division Head. This position is governed by the overtime provisions of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for overtime pay.

* Performs highly skilled electronic, electronic pneumatic, and instrumentation maintenance and repair and construction duties at a wastewater treatment plant including operation of SCADA system, lift station telemetry, and telephone/communication system.

The following are minimum qualifications necessary for entry into the classification:
EDUCATION:

EXPERIENCE:
* The equivalent of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical, electronics and instrumentation equipment and circuits found in wastewater treatment plants and related facilities, including two (2) years of journey-level experience
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
* Valid California Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
* California Water Environment Association (CWEA) Grade I Electrical Instrumentation Technician Certification within eighteen (18) months.
* Cradlepoint Certified Network Associate Certification is desired.

About the Regulatory Affairs and Purified Water Division
ESD's Regulatory Affairs and Purified Water Division, has four programmatic focus areas: Purified Water, Wastewater Compliance, Air Compliance, and Municipal Environmental Compliance. Division staff are environmental scientists, environmental professionals, and engineers. The Division's responsibilities cover a broad range of initiatives, which include leading environmental monitoring, reporting, permitting, and compliance programs for various federal and state permits issued under the Clean Water, Clean Air, and Clean Soil regulations, leading and conducting environmental assessments, engaging in regional, state, and federal scientific collaborations, and implementing pollution prevention educational outreach initiatives to residents to reduce the levels of pollutants in wastewater. The Division also provides strategic and advanced technical leadership for a Direct Potable Reuse project that is envisioned to use advanced water purification technology to boost local drinking water supply.
Position Duties
The Environmental Services Department is currently seeking to fill one (1) full-time Associate Engineer position in the Regulatory Affairs and Purified Water Division's Municipal Environmental Compliance section.
The current salary range for this classification is: $135,975.84 - $172,099.20. This amount includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay. The actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates' qualifications and experience.
Associate Engineer Position in Municipal Environmental Compliance
The Municipal Environmental Compliance section is responsible for keeping City owned environmentally impaired properties in compliance with local, State and Federal regulations. The work includes fuel leak investigations, closed landfill compliance, Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, Phase II soil, soil gas and/or groundwater contamination investigations and remediation projects. The group serves as a technical resource throughout the City to answer questions related to hazardous materials and provides a variety of support. The position requires strong communication and management skills and interacts with a variety of City staff, regulators, environmental consultants and the public on a wide range of subjects.
The responsibilities of the currently vacant position specifically include 1) managing environmental compliance for several City owned properties with legacy contamination, five closed landfills with landfill gas issues or groundwater contamination, and several leaking underground fuel tanks sites, 2) managing environmental due diligence (e.g. Phase I Environmental Site Assessments) for City property acquisitions, and 3) ensuring private new developments perform adequate environmental due diligence and are conditioned to further investigate and/or mitigate any hazardous materials issues that pose environmental or public health impacts.
Typical duties for the position include but are not limited to:
* Supervises staff including: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff is trained; making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
* Directs the collection and analysis of field data and prepares recommendations.
* Acts as a lead project manager on a variety of complex projects large and small. Main point of contact internally and externally with consultants and regulators.
* Prepares and coordinates master consultant agreements and service orders for individual projects. Oversees environmental consultant work to ensure it meets standards.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering or possession of an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate.
Experience:Three (3) years of increasingly responsible professional engineering experience.
Acceptable Substitution:A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in the required professional engineering discipline may be substituted for one (1) year of professional engineering experience.
Required Licensing:Possession of a valid State of California driver's license may be required.
Form 700 Requirement: This position requires a disclosure of outside investments, real property interest, income, and business positions. You must complete and file an "Assuming Office Form 700" with the City Clerk's Office within the first 30 days of employment with the office.

The City of San José is hiring an Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Services (PBCS) Technical Lead (Enterprise Supervising Technology Analyst) to provide technical support for Oracle PBCS which is used to prepare the City's Capital, Operating, and Revenue Budgets. The PBCS Technical Lead will also support the three custom budget applications: Fees and Charges, Ordinance Tracking, and Budget to Finance ERP Interface and the Budget Office (BO). The BO is responsible for developing and managing the City's operating and capital budgets and service fees and charges. This position requires strong technical hands-on experience and leadership skills, as well as the ability to take initiative and lead others. We are seeking an individual who is willing to adapt to an ever-changing environment.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical and functional background supporting Oracle PBCS and/or Oracle Hyperion Planning, and multi-dimensional databases with strong analytical skills. The Supervising Recycling Ambassador (Community Activity Specialist) position is responsible for leading field operations and organizing the work activities for four (4) part-time Recycling Ambassadors (Community Activity Workers) in support of the Contamination and Recycling Tagging (CART) Program. The CART Program aims to reduce single-family dwelling recycling contamination. This work helps the City reach its zero-waste goal to increase material recycled, educate residents about items that are recyclable, reduce material landfilled, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and avoid future recycling fee increases. The Supervising Recycling Ambassador will lead the Recycling Ambassador team to efficiently provide residents across the San José Metropolitan area with recycling program expertise and community engagement while also addressing other Residential Program elements in the field. This position provides the individual with valuable recycling program experience, rewarding field work engaging residents in the community, and helps San José Recycle Right.
Typical duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Serve as the field supervisor directly supervising four (4) Recycling Ambassadors.
* Supervise and train employees and monitor work activities.
* Provide quality control and quality assurance in on-the-job training and support.
* Drive an assigned City vehicle to residential neighborhoods.
* Conduct, coordinate and direct outdoor fieldwork, scheduled starting at 6:00 AM Monday through Friday, for most of the workday.
* Conduct remaining work in an office environment after outdoor field work is complete.
* Plan, organize, and conduct team visual inspections of recycling carts at single-family homes focusing on visible contents only. Input data using a tablet and affix an education tag onto the cart.
* Troubleshoot real-time technical issues in the field using a tablet and survey application.
* Confirm team inspection materials including notes, cart photos, and quality control checks are processed and filed.
* Engage with residents in a courteous and professional manner to answer recycling program or City service questions and guidance when leaving cart tags.
* Support database management and recordkeeping activities and prepare written responses to residents as needed.
* Maintain the field vehicle and order field supplies as needed to ensure uninterrupted operations and efficient data collection.
* Support the development of the CART fieldwork Standard Operating Procedure and improvements to continue lowering the recycling contamination rate.
* Plan team logistics for assigned fieldwork and ensure field supplies are re-stocked as needed.
* Create and distribute field maps for planned neighborhood visits.
* Ensure the team has required equipment and materials for daily field visits.
* Provide ongoing program updates to leadership and collaborate with City staff as needed to maintain uninterrupted field operations.
* Operate general office equipment including printers and scanners.
* Maintain teamwork and ensure team goals are met efficiently.
* Perform other IWM work as assigned.
This is a temporary (Overstrength) position that is anticipated to be funded through June 30, 2026, subject to further extension as appropriate. Minimum Qualifications
Education:Graduation from high school or equivalent (General Education Development (GED) Test or California Proficiency Certificate).

The City of San José Housing Department is a leader in the development of affordable housing. Its mission is to strengthen and to revitalize our community through housing and neighborhood investment. The Housing Department is seeking qualified Analysts who will focus on effective grants management using several funding sources: the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) entitlement programs (CDBG, ESG, HOME, HOPWA); the State of California; and local funds. Many of the contracts relate to homeless response and/or a prioritization of formerly homeless residents for other programs such as tenant-based rental assistance. San Jose Animal Care Services, a division in the Public Works Department is currently seeking to fill one (1) full-time Animal Shelter Coordinator, Foster vacancy.
Salary range for this classification is $34.32 - $41.77/hour. This salary range includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates' qualifications and experience.
The Animal Shelter Coordinator, Foster position has the responsibility to provide humane handling and care for animals sheltered at San Jose's Animal Care Center and those in foster homes with a focus on building and maintaining relationships with foster volunteers, coordinating foster placements, tracking and following-up on animals in foster care, and managing the logistics associated with these functions. This position reports to the designated Animal Shelter Operations Supervisor and has lead responsibilities for Animal Care Attendants and program-related volunteers.
This position will undergo 4 - 6 weeks of training during normal business hours. This position may be required to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, and respond to emergency animal services assignments.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Establish and maintain connections with foster volunteers and networks to enhance collaboration and support, align efforts, and achieve goals.
* Maintain an organized, accessible list, including contact information of foster volunteers, and their preferred placements.
* Assist in identifying animals from the shelter that are suitable for fostering.
* Communicate regularly with foster volunteers and ACS staff regarding the status of animals, including any medical requirements, adoption waivers, etc.
* Oversee foster program to ensure resources and guidance are provided to foster volunteers so they may care for animals effectively.
* Work closely with the DPW Public Information Manager to promote ACS foster programs to the public.
* Monitor and observe animals for signs of illness or injury and seek medical care as necessary or separate sick and injured animals for observation; administer first aid or minor treatments to animals; assist the Shelter Veterinarian and/or Animal Health Technician in minor medical procedures such as vaccinations; quarantine potentially infectious animals, including those which may be rabid.
* Conduct behavior evaluations as needed for cats, dogs, and other animals.
* Humanely euthanize and disposes of animals as necessary.
* Act as a lead in the animal shelter over entry level animal care personnel, such as Animal Care Attendants; assign, schedule, inspect work, provide technical direction, determine priorities, and train staff and volunteers. May approve timecards and give input to the supervisor regarding performance evaluations, hiring, promotion, termination, and discipline of employees.
* Perform administrative duties such as completing and maintaining records (i.e., feeding, care needs, and holding periods for impounded animals, etc.), generating operational reports, maintaining inventories of food, equipment, supplies, animals, etc.
* Ability to handle animals humanely and safely using approved protocols and practices.
* Skilled in using the proper control techniques on animals entering the shelter.
Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 100 pounds while handling animals and equipment. Employees may work outside and be exposed to inclement weather, may be exposed to blood borne pathogens while using hypodermic needles on animals, may be exposed to animal scratches and bites, and may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, fumes, odors, gases, chemicals, pollens, and other airborne irritants.

Custody Transport Trainee:
This is a non-sworn entry-level training classification for arrestee transport with the San Jose Police Department. Under immediate supervision, incumbents will be enrolled in a local county Correctional Academy to obtain required certifications needed to perform functions related to the transport of arrestees to correctional facilities, medical facilities, and monitor arrestees to maintain order and security. Custody Transport Officer:
This is a sworn classification responsible for transporting, booking, and monitoring arrestees. Incumbents work under general supervision of a Police Lieutenant and are expected to follow the operating procedures and policies of the unit, exercising judgment as new or unusual situations arise. The Custody Transport Officer differs from the Police Officer classification in that the latter has a broader range of duties to ensure the protection of life and property of the City's residents and visitors.
The essential job duties for the Custody Transport Officer position include but are not limited to the following:
* Assumes custody of arrestees from patrol officers, ensuring proper transfer of responsibility, verifying documentation, and properly restraining the arrestee using handcuffs. Operates a motor vehicle to safely transport arrestees from arrest locations to the County jail.
* Monitors all movements of arrestees.
* Submits the necessary paperwork, provided by the Patrol Officer, during the booking process, and communicates with jail intake staff to ensure proper processing of the arrestee.
* Operates a two-way radio to communicate with Police Officers.

Position Duties
About the Multi-Discipline Engineering Internship
The Environmental Services Department is currently seeking to fill two (2) part-time unbenefited Undergraduate/Graduate Student Intern positions.
Student Interns of the Multi-Discipline Engineering Internship will rotate within five key engineering groups across the Environmental Services Department. Interns will rotate into each of these five engineering groups approximately every six weeks. These rotations will include travel to three distinct work locations which include San José City Hall, the San José-Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility (RWF), and San José Municipal Water System (Muni Water). At the conclusion of the internship, interns will have job shadowed in each of the five groups.
The key engineering groups are located withing the following sections:
Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Division
The Capital Improvement Program (CIP) division is leading one of the largest public works programs in San José's history! The division is responsible for delivering a 10-year capital improvement program estimated at $1.4 billion and assuring the future of wastewater treatment services for 1.7 million residents and 17,000 businesses.
The CIP division performs the overall planning and project delivery for all aspects of the RWF treatment process, including program administration and budget planning. The division is also supported by a co-located team of consultant staff and staff from the Department of Public Works, who provide program management and construction management services.
* Responsibilities while working in CIP include but are not limited to: Supporting engineering staff on current projects in various phases of work, including feasibility, design, bid, and construction; attending project and staff meetings; attending design workshops; participating in construction site visits; assisting staff to manage facility-wide studies; and assisting staff in the areas of program management and controls.
Operations & Maintenance (O&M)
The Wastewater Management Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Engineering section works side-by-side with three divisions of wastewater management at the RWF - Plant Operations, Facility Maintenance, and Energy & Automation. The division is staffed by 226 full-time employees that includes operators, mechanics, various wastewater superintendents and supervisors, engineers, technicians, analysts, staff specialists, and other support staff. In addition, these groups are supported by various consultants. This section is responsible for managing various O&M repair/replacement projects, providing engineering support to the RWF, maintaining document management systems and record drawings, and providing leadership for the Asset Management system.
* Responsibilities while working in O&M include but are not limited to:
* Assisting with equipment tags, field verification, and creating missing tag lists.
* Assisting with uploading O&M manuals, equipment warranty documents, SOPs, and training related documents from CIP Final Submittals to WMDocs.
* Assisting with the review of preventive maintenance schedules from O&M manuals and creating PM schedule lists.
* Assisting with O&M Online Manual upgrades.
* Assisting with O&M Engineering projects.
* Other miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
Pretreatment Program - Watershed Protection (WSP) Division
The Pretreatment Program consists of the Source Control and Environmental Engineering sections and is responsible for implementing the federal- and state-mandated pretreatment program for industrial discharges to the San José-Santa Clara Regional Wastewater Facility. The program is required by the Facility's NPDES permit and is aimed at ensuring that certain dischargers have adequate treatment prior to the discharge of industrial wastewater to the sanitary sewer to protect water quality and the integrity of the wastewater collection and treatment systems. On an annual basis, the Pretreatment Program inspects approximately 350 businesses, collects more than 1,900 water quality samples, and reviews more than 900 self-monitoring reports. This group also permits and conducts inspections of newly regulated facilities such as dental offices.
* Responsibilities while working in the Pretreatment Program include but are not limited to: Assisting Sanitary Engineers in evaluating industrial and commercial facilities for compliance with federal, state, and local pretreatment requirements; writing and issuing Industrial Wastewater Discharge Permits; conducting plan check reviews of industrial and commercial facilities, and performing specialized environmental engineering studies in support of the Pretreatment Program, the Watershed Enforcement Program, and the Regional Wastewater Facility.
Municipal Water System (Muni Water) & South Bay Water Recycling (SBWR)
Muni Water
The Municipal Water System section is responsible for system operation and maintenance engineering support, and design and construction of the Municipal Water System pipeline and facilities. This includes managing the water quality programs, and supporting the conservation program, providing development related support services, ensuring availability of water supply, capital improvements, construction inspection, and engineering support to operations and maintenance.
SBWR
South Bay Water Recycling (SBWR) is a recycled water wholesaler to four retailers: San Jose Water Company, San José Municipal Water, City of Santa Clara, and City of Milpitas. Customers buy recycled water from the retailer in their location.
SBWR is the regional permit holder for recycled water in San José, Santa Clara and Milpitas, ensuring compliance with State regulations for recycled water quality and use and is a leader in recycled water in Northern California.
SBWR's recycled water system consists of over 150 miles of pipeline, five pump stations, and 10 million gallons of storage in reservoirs. SBWR delivers more than four billion gallons of recycled water per year to more than 960 commercial customers, an average of 11 million gallons a day.
* Responsibilities while working in Muni Water & SBWR include but are not limited to: Supporting engineering and operations staff through research, data collection, and technical analyses for ongoing projects. Responsibilities will include conducting field visits and site inspections to observe construction and operations/maintenance activities, as well as participating in staff meetings, taking notes, and providing follow-up as needed. Additional assignments may be given to further assist the engineering and compliance team.
Duration of Assignment
Approximately 8 months
Salary Information
Salary ranges for this classification are:
* Undergraduate Student Intern:$15.86 - $22.65 hourly
* Graduate Student Intern: $20.52 - $30.30 hourly
These salary ranges include an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates' qualifications and experience.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
* Undergraduate: Current enrollment in an accredited college or university in an undergraduate program. Must be enrolled throughout the duration of the internship.
* Graduate: Completion of a bachelor's degree and current enrollment in a master's degree program from an accredited college or university. Must be enrolled throughout the duration of the internship.
Experience: None.
Licenses & Certificates: Possession of a valid driver's license authorizing the operation of a motor vehicle in the State of California.
