1802

The first known pioneer family, James & Martha Crawford, arrived in the area around 1802.

1803

Thomas Palmer arrived in 1803 and later built a grist mill with William Dean.

1805

The following is an account of the village of Reynoldsburg and of the immediate neighborhood adjoining it; going back as far as the year 1805.

1816

Donahue; in the year 1816 he sold to Mr.

1817

His comrades buried him near the said camp, and fenced in the grave with poles, which had not decayed and could be seen in the year 1817 when the writer with hrs father moved into the neighborhood* The first settler on the sight of the town was a Mr.

1819

The first church organization was the Seceder (now the United Presbyterian congregation) church, which took place in 1819 by the election of two Elders and the acceptation of William Graham (for the other) of the congregation of Cambridge of the State of New York.

1839

Reynoldsburg was incorporated in March of 1839.

1840

He previously to 1840 built a large frame grist mill on the south-west corner lot, but its expense broke him up.

About the year 1840 he was elected by the county of Franklin a member of the Legislature of Ohio.

1850

Myers noted that the Livingston Seed Company, which Alexander Livingston founded in 1850, is still in business in Columbus.

1860

There was regular preaching in this church for about forty years, until the new church was built in the village in the years 1860-1.

1868

Another reason for growth in the area was the establishment of the Reynoldsburg Union Academy in 1868.

1885

The Post Masters have been J. C. Reynolds, Harvey Miller, D. Graham, Deputy John Miller, V. Hutson, John Lynch, Nathaniel Mason, Jr., William Rhoads, the present incumbent (1885).

1965

The Reynoldsburg Tomato Festival is a community event that started in 1965.

1977

The company was founded in 1977 by Roy and Gaye Raymond as a response to packaged underwear, which Roy Raymond considered to be “ugly, floral-print nylon nightgowns.” Raymond sold Victoria’s Secret Inc. to Leslie Wexner, creator of Limited Stores, for $1 million.

1978

Many classes were held at the Prairie Township Fire Department and many firefighters were trained here until 1978 when the state built the Ohio Fire Academy in Reynoldsburg.

2009

Work on the mural, painted by Curtis Goldstein, began on September 12, 2009, starting with a portrait of Hannah Ashton, one of the founding members of the Reynoldsburg-Truro Historical Society.

2019

Sixty-five percent of the city’s police officers hired since 2019 come from “underrepresented populations,” Begeny said.
