Under the direction of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory) the incumbent will function as an Environmental Scientist in the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Program member in the California Geologic Energy Management Division (CalGEM), located at the Headquarters Office in Sacramento. The incumbent will be responsible for complying with CEQA for CalGEM projects. The incumbent will work in close coordination with internal and external stakeholders and contractors in the preparation of environmental documents, required notices, and any additional documentation as required by CEQA. The incumbent may work with contractors, as well as plan, develop, and implement innovative programs to ensure compliance with CEQA and to address emerging environmental problems and natural resource management issues in support of achieving CalGEM's mission to protect public health and safety, environmental quality, and the reduction and mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions associated with the development of hydrocarbon and geothermal resources in a manner that meets the energy needs of the State.     Under general supervision of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory) in the Feed Inspection Program, the Environmental Scientist will sample and analyze results of commercial feed and livestock drugs. The incumbent will independently conduct environmental impact studies related to feed and food safety, take regulatory actions, conduct investigations and inspections, and other duties related to the enforcement of California laws governing the distribution of feed and livestock drugs. * Sample, analyze, and interpret results of feed and livestock drugs for product quality, human and animal food safety, and regulatory compliance, including those containing medically important antimicrobial drugs. * Evaluate and determine the Feed and Livestock Drugs licensee's compliance with California and United States Food and Drug Administration's laws and regulations and they apply to commercial feed and livestock drugs. * Review firms Standard Operating Procedures, records, and interview management and staff of manufacturing facilities and document any deviations from federal and state regulations. * Perform inspections as part of CDFA's contract with the Food and Drug Administration. * Review firm records relating to the manufacturing and distribution of commercial feed to ensure product quality, human and animal food safety, and regulatory compliance with state and Federal mandates. Working Conditions The duties of this position are to perform approximately 75% outdoors and 25% indoors. The primary workstation will be the incumbent's home office, which is equipped with a desk, chair, computer with various software programs, and a multifunction print/scan/copy machine. The employee's alternate workstation is located indoors at 1320 E Shaw, Suite 130, Fresno CA 93710. When in the office, the duties of this position are performed indoors in a cubicle environment. Each cubicle contains a chair, computer monitor, docking station, printer, a telephone with voicemail, portable and stationary filing drawers, and overhead cabinets. Regular or recurring telework may occur as part of the incumbent's ongoing regular schedule in accordance with CDFA's Telework Policy. During activities while in the field, the employee may be exposed to gases, dirt, odors, noise, fumes, uneven surfaces, extreme weather conditions, and fast-moving equipment. FORMULA RATE EXAMINATION (Weighted 100%) All candidates meeting the minimum qualifications by the cut-off date will have their Supplemental Questionnaire scored in the Formula Rate Examination. This examination will evaluate the relevance, level, recency, progression and quality of candidate's education, training and experience.
