These positions are responsible for performing roadway maintenance work, roadway striping, grass cutting, tree trimming and snow removal. The Maintenance Worker/Driver I will work out of an assigned District located throughout St. Louis County. Training to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (Class A CDL) will be provided during the initial period of employment.
There are openings for full time positions. The work schedule will be typically Monday - Friday 7:00 - 3:30 with mandatory 12 hour snow shifts. The starting salary for the Maintenance Worker I will be $18.74 per hour. The Maintenance Driver I position which requires a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) will have a starting salary of $21.50 per hour. There will be an additional $6 per hour while performing snow removal.

Examples of Duties
* Repair and replace asphalt roadways and surfaces by: performing asphalt patching and crack sealing; preparing and compacting ground/surfaces for paving; repairing cave-ins, depressions, potholes and blow ups and striping roads.
* Maintain, repair or install concrete structures or surfaces by: assembling, setting, and knocking down concrete forms; mixing, pouring, texturing and finishing concrete.
* Care for and propagate plant life by: planting and maintaining flowers, shrubs and trees; mowing, raking and manicuring grounds; cutting and hauling away dead trees, stumps and shrubs; sowing grass or laying sod; trimming trees, hedges and shrubs.
* Perform mandatory snow duty by removing hazardous snow and ice conditions by: identifying areas requiring snow and ice removal, applying salt and other chemicals, using a truck with plow or other tools to clear roadways, driveways and parking lots.
* Perform administrative tasks associated with the work by: monitoring supply levels and ensuring the availability of tools and supplies for a designated area, facilitating the work efforts of another employee or work group, training employees on maintenance techniques, safety procedures, vehicle and equipment operation and new product use.
* Perform additional duties as required.
EQUIPMENT USED:(Illustrative examples) 1 ton dump truck, automobile, van, light truck: chain saw, drills, forklift, grinder, highlift, jackhammer, and various hand tools; riding and push mowers, trimmer, measures and levels.
WORKING CONDITIONS Balance, bend at waist; climb or work on ladders and stairs; exposure to dust/dirt, fumes, and hazardous materials; kneel, lift, push/pull, reach above shoulders, squat, stand/walk for long periods; work out of doors in extreme temperatures.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED with a current, valid driver's license without driving restrictions. Prefer Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Applicants for this position must be physically able and willing to perform hard manual labor, work under poor conditions, be able to work overtime, possess a valid driver's license and their own transportation (public transportation is not available to most work locations) and have a safe driving record for the past three years.

Under various supervision, performs skilled cleaning, repair, inspection, and maintenance work of the City's water, sewer system and pump stations; operates a variety of equipment in the construction, repair, maintenance, and replacement of City water and wastewater facilities and systems; and maintains and repairs the water and treatment plant facility and fixtures as needed/required.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

WASTEWATER:
Performs sewer line, pump station, and point repair and maintenance including cleaning and root cut with the Jet-Vac truck; operates a variety of equipment and machinery in performing tasks; completes work zone safety form and ensure safety of crew and integrity of repairs; troubleshoots, cleans, repairs, and replaces vacuum pumps, plumbing, probes, floats, and water separators; changes pump seals; removes pump impeller obstructions; vacuums wet wells; and troubleshoots and repairs the electrical systems.
Troubleshoots and repairs facility equipment including electrical wiring of out buildings; repairs or replaces a variety of equipment including grit collector chains, sprockets, aerator discs, drive belts, filter presses, belts, power cylinders, pumps, gear boxes, seals; and check and shut off valves; overhauls pressure regulators, air compressors, sludge umps, power washer pumps and valves; changes the oil and greases equipment; and repairs and replaces electrical wiring on equipment as needed.
Repairs manholes; replaces damaged lids, frames, metal and concrete rings and seals with pressure grout; raises manholes to grade; conducts televising with push camera of sewer mains for obstructions and damage; digs ditches; constructs safety shoring to repair sewer mains; and repairs service lines and reconnects to the sewer main.
Monitors creeks and streams for pollution and dumping; and performs fence and gate repairs as needed; assists the Engineering Department on sewer line installation and inspection; assists contractors with troubleshooting and repairs of facility and pump stations; and assists with large scale sewer televising operations; repairs and constructs concrete encasements around sewer main in the creeks; rip-rap creeks to protect encasements; sets up forms and puts down rock; pours concrete for driveways and sidewalks; monitors sewer flow and downloads data logs on laptop computer;
WATER:
Repairs water breaks; performs water taps; digs up and replaces water pits; and lays sod for water breaks.
Performs turn off and turn on of customer's water; responds and replies to customer complaints and concerns; and locates water utilities and lines for customer requests.
Takes water samples from several areas in the City and forwards to the State; tests water meters for customers; exercise water main valves; inspects fire hydrants to ensure they are working properly; and inspects and cleans pump stations.

Locates and reads water meters on an assigned route and records and logs readings

Conducts minor vehicle repairs; responds and troubleshoots odor calls from residents; installs and repairs facility water lines (fresh and effluent); repairs facility fixtures, toilets, urinals, sinks, and lighting; marks sewer and water lines for Missouri One Call; performs other minor facility upkeep and repairs such as painting and fiberglass repair; and maintains all equipment, small engine repairs, tune-ups, oil and filter changes.
Plows snow and puts down salt and sand around stations and facilities as needed during the winter months; mows, weeds, trims trees and performs tree removal around grounds, facilities, and fire hydrants; and unloads heavy parts and materials needed at the facility.
Assists the Foreman with budget information, vendor demonstrations; and assists other municipalities in emergency repairs, pump station and culverts repairs and maintenance.

What does a landscape plant maintenance crew member do?

Interact professionally with customers on a daily basis communicating the process and expectations of services.
Posses a general knowledge of tree and shrub maintenance practices.
Continue on the job training for all aspects of RYAN provided services along with recommendations for other RYAN services as needed on their property.
Requirements
6 months of landscape maintenance experience preferred
Speak and communicate fluently in Spanish
Valid driver's license is required
Ability to obtain DOT medical certification

Materials and Equipment Directly Used
Uses a variety of hand tools, electric saw, pipe benders, yard maintenance tools such as mowers, hedge trimmer and edger as well as other related tools. Operates a light truck on a daily basis. There may be times when use of personal vehicle may be required.
Working Environment/Physical Requirements
Exposure to extreme weather conditions including extreme heat and cold. Good eye/hand coordination. Frequent standing, bending, walking, stooping and climbing. Occasional lifts objects weighing 50 pounds and infrequently lift objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds. Subject to call-ins under emergency conditions. Some overnight or day travel may be required for business purposes. Vacation and other leave scheduling shall be requested of and approved by the appropriate supervisor.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.

Fleet Technician II
Independence, MO jobs
Under general supervision, diagnoses and repairs automotive systems and components. Inspect automobiles, trucks and related equipment to locate and determine the extent of necessary overhaul or repair. Diagnoses and performs repairs on fleet, including but not limited to hydraulic, suspension, exhaust, electrical, cooling, fuel, electrical and component repairs. Fabricates repairs and maintains a wide variety of equipment constructed of metal including sheet metal repairs and fabrication. Instructs Parts Clerk on parts required to repair vehicle/equipment. Performs call-out repairs 24 hours a day, seven days a week as required and must be able to work as needed for snow removal call-out and emergency vehicle repair. Must furnish own tools.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; automotive trade school or equivalent preferred and five (5) years related job experience with demonstrable skills in general automotive maintenance and repair; or any combination of education, training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Must have or be able to obtain within six (6) months a Valid State Commercial Driver's License - Class A with air brake endorsement without K restriction. May be required to obtain a Missouri Vehicle Inspection License, ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications, EVT (Emergency Vehicle Technician) training or ability to obtain. Must complete required NIMS level training within first six (6) months of hire.
Knowledge of: Operations and procedures of automotive repair facilities; methods, materials, equipment and tools used in vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair; various electrical systems of gasoline and diesel engines; standard practices, equipment and tools of the automotive and equipment mechanical trade; principles and practices of gasoline and diesel engine repair and maintenance; methods and techniques of welding and fabrication; basic principles of record keeping; shop mathematics; occupational hazards and standard safety; electrical/hydraulics schematics; working knowledge of automotive equipment operations; computer applications related to the work and personal safety equipment and supplies.
Skilled in: Diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing vehicles and equipment; estimating time and materials needed for work.
Ability to: Read, interpret, and comprehend automotive manuals; interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form; and communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Physical Demands: Frequently required to sit and talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to walk or stand for long periods. Must have adequate hearing ability to diagnose mechanical problems in a loud environment. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.
Typical Working Conditions: Garage atmosphere, some outdoor work required - conditions include extreme heat and cold, working with solvents, oils, and greases. The air quality often includes internal combustion exhaust gasses and emissions, chemical fumes, and petroleum products. Employee sometimes works near moving mechanical parts and equipment.
