The Tucson Police Department has decided to waive the physical test (PT) for applicant testing at this time. While it is not required for this hiring process, you will still be required to successfully complete the Arizona Peace Officers Standards (AZPOST) Police Officer Physical Aptitude Test (POPAT) prior to graduation from the academy.
Although the PT test will be waived during testing, all applicants preparing to enter the Southern Arizona Law Enforcement Training Center (SALETC) program are expected to arrive in shape and be prepared to participate in a rigorous physical fitness program.
Information will be provided to applicants at the written assessment as to how to best prepare for the physical aspects of the academy.

Important details regarding the Police Officer Recruit position:
* The starting rate for this position is $29.44 per hour.
* Incumbents will be required to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Position Specific Summary
The Police Officer Recruit position at the City of Tucson's Police Department trains at the Police Academy as a new police recruit to learn the skills and functions of the job of Police Officer, under the guidance of experienced police staff.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Police Sergeant. This position does not supervise.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Attends lectures on law enforcement related topics; course of study may include AZ revised statutes, constitutional law, policy and procedures, and crime scene management. Studies material presented in lectures to ensure satisfactory performance in required examinations.
* Performs police related tasks such as arrest and control tactics, defensive tactics, firearms proficiency training, technical vehicle operation, and emergency response driving.
* Practices various scenarios related to law enforcement duties; scenarios may include crime in progress, crime scene management, and other situations they may encounter as police officers.
* Performs aerobic and anaerobic exercises to increase strength and endurance. Participates in physical activities such as running, weightlifting, body weight exercises and other cardiovascular activities.
* Completes multiple academic exams with a passing score. Completes and passes proficiency evaluations which may include firearms, driving, and defensive tactics. Position Specific Summary
The Solid Waste Equipment Operator (SWEO) position in the City of Tucson's Environmental Services Department operates refuse collection vehicles and various equipment for the safe, efficient, and responsible collection, transportation, and disposal of refuse, trash, debris, and recyclables.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Environmental Services Supervisor. This position does not supervise.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Operates refuse collections vehicles and various equipment within the commercial, residential, brush and bulky, and container maintenance units by following safe driving practices. Collects refuse, recyclables, brush and bulky items, and services all containers on assigned routes. Uses electronic software system to view assigned routes as well as special instructions and updates. Sets and positions containers in an upright manner, ensuring lids are properly closed, and do not block driveways, entrances, or traffic. Reports accidental spills and overflow of containers to supervisor and tags containers to ensure surrounding collection site is free of debris for future servicing.
* Transports and disposes of collected waste at designated waste collection sites in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Tags containers holding unacceptable waste including but not limited to paint, electronics, large appliances, and household hazardous waste. Transports and drops off recyclables to designated recycle centers.
* Provides excellent customer service by maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor during customer interactions. Provides resources and information to customers related to refuse collections or other services. Notifies supervision or Control for Refuse (Control R) dispatch of customer requests. Adheres to required productivity standards, ensuring all customers are serviced in a timely and efficient manner. Executes and follows City policies and departmental operational procedures as pertaining to customer service.
* Communicates with supervisors through two-way radio and utilizes routing software system to communicate location of tagged containers and reason of tagged containers. Immediately notifies supervision and Control R dispatch of incidents, accidents, injuries, property damage, missed containers, or other issues that arise during completion of assigned route. Reports unsafe conditions, and situations such as hard to reach containers, tight alley ways and other issues that may arise to supervision and Control R prior to attempting service at route locations to avoid property and personal damage. Tags containers that are blocked, preventing service, overloaded, or to close to fixed objects and containers with other issues as service reminders for customers.
* ·Actively participates and cooperates in all scheduled trainings, briefings, and meetings. Operates vehicles in accordance with all federal, state, local and City of Tucson requirements. Promotes the City of Tucson's safety standards by not taking inappropriate risks while driving and while servicing containers or brush and bulky items. Performs daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle. Monitors tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls continuously to ensure vehicle maintains operational readiness, minimize mechanical downtime and operational cost. Identifies and reports vehicle improper performance, issues, and malfunctions, and completes vehicle discrepancy reports for repairs by fleet services staff. Reports hydraulic spills to supervisor and Control R dispatch unit to notify Tucson Fire Department when large spills occur. Maintains cleanliness of interior and exterior of assigned vehicles.
* Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned. Cleans motor pool area, uses various hand tools, performs occasional office duties, and site check inspections.

Plant Operator I:

Plant Operator II:

Duties and Responsibilities
* Performs complex forensic analysis of blood samples for the presence of alcohol and other volatiles. This position consults with both internal and external stakeholders to address configuration and customization needs across multiple HR system modules.

Duties and Responsibilities
* Maintains and implements new Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) modules and configuration projects such as Human Capital Management (HCM), Payroll, Absence Management, Recruitment, Compensation, Performance, and Learning. Elicits requirements from management and internal stakeholders to develop functional and technical solutions. * Manages and oversees the maintenance of the Human Capital Management (HCM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to ensure optimal function. Acts as the primary point of contact for resolving escalated system issues and inquiries. Performs analysis of configuration and data to discern the cause of issues; advises staff on outcomes and solutions to escalated system issues. Ensures accuracy of data and oversees. Provides training and support to staff on developing end-user training.
* Participates in the recruitment and hiring of employees. Makes recommendations on employee discipline and other human resources issues, including evaluating and managing performance, facilitating positive resolutions, promoting positive morale, and ensuring staff is appropriately trained for maximum performance. Provides leadership, guidance and training to maximum efficiencies within the division and departments. Evaluates and manages performance of employees while facilitating solutions and positive morale.
* Creates, maintains, and analyzes a variety of standard and custom reports requiring extensive knowledge of Microsoft excel as well as system reporting analysis. Involves staff on reporting approaches for unique requests. Ensures compliance with data security and reporting.

The City of Glendale observes 10.5 holidays per year, and full-time employees are also granted an additional 12 hours of holiday special leave per calendar year to celebrate their cultural or religious holidays.

Position Specific Summary
The Lead Systems Analyst position at the City of Tucson's Information Technology Department (ITD) is responsible for driving the design, development, and implementation of system solutions to address complex business challenges while managing project and program objectives. This role provides mentorship to junior analysts, oversees product integration and data management, and ensures system integrity. This position collaborates with stakeholders to align technology initiatives with organizational goals and optimize business processes.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Information Technology Manager. This position leads and instructs the daily operational work of system support personnel.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Conducts code reviews and offers constructive feedback to improve the quality and efficiency of the team's work. Collaborates with department managers to develop and implement strategic plans for system integration and optimization. Identifies opportunities for process improvement within the systems analysis function and leads initiatives to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality. Monitors and optimizes application performance, including system integrations, using tools and best practices.
* Analyzes business processes, breaking down complex needs into detailed system requirements. Conducts thorough investigations to identify the root causes of system issues and implements corrective actions to address underlying problems. Assesses the impact of proposed changes on existing systems and related processes. Implements monitoring tools and procedures to track application system and integrations performance. Optimizes system configurations and processes for efficiency.
* Designs and architects integration solutions based on business requirements. Develops requirements for system integrations and other programmatic solutions required. Evaluates and selects the appropriate tools and technologies for the specific need that aligns with organization standards. Develops, implements, and maintains integration solutions, including custom connectors and middleware for data exchange.
* Serve as the primary contact for business partners and vendors. Maintains relationships with external vendors, internal partners, and service providers, including contract negotiations and performance evaluations. Takes part in contract negotiations, vendor performance evaluations, and adherence to service level agreements.
* Provides training, mentorship and guidance on project management, time management, and prioritization of tasks to junior analysts. Collaborates with the team on building skills and performance overall. Audits work of staff and provides and documents feedback. Assists with assigning task and tracking performance.
* Conducts unit testing to ensure correctness of individual components, integration testing to validate end-to-end system functionality, and regression testing to confirm proposed changes don't result in unintended impacts for areas that should remain unchanged. Identifies and troubleshoots issues during the testing phases.
* Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation for application architecture, configurations, integrations, workflows, and security measures including knowledge base with solutions to common issues for reference. Conducts research on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, incorporating them into departmental strategies. Assists with special projects as needed.
* Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.
