1985

1985 - The Los Angeles Lakers defeat the Boston Celtics to win another NBA Championship.

1986

1986 - The first City of Los Angeles Marathon is held.

1987

1987 - The Los Angeles Lakers win the NBA Championship.

1988

1988 - The Los Angeles Lakers defeat Detroit, 108-105, in the seventh game to win a consecutive NBA Championship.

1989

1989 - The Los Angeles Lazers (Major Indoor Soccer League) complete their final season.

1992

1992 - Pepperdine Waves baseball defeats Cal State Fullerton, 3-2, for the College World Series championship.

The Baltimore Spirit were formed in 1992 and joined the National Professional Soccer League.

1995

1995 - After 49 years, the Rams move from the Los Angeles area (Anaheim) to St Louis, becoming the first professional sports team to move from west to east.

1996

1996 - Long Beach Stingrays of the American Basketball League begin their first season.

1998

1998 - The O'Malley family, long-time owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers and one of the last families to own a Major League Baseball team, sells the franchise to the Fox Group.

2000

2000 - The Long Beach Ice Dogs hockey teamswitches their league affiliation from the International Hockey League (IHL) to the West Coast Hockey League (WCHL). The Los Angeles Avengers re-introduce arena football to Los Angeles at Staples Center.

The Ravens won Super Bowl XXXV in 2000.

2001

2001 - The Los Angeles Sparks become the first WNBA team to go undefeated at home for an entire season.

2004

The Los Angeles Lakers lose the 2004 NBA Championship to the Detroit Pistons 1 game to 4.

2005

2005 - The USC Trojans defeat Oklahoma, 55-19, in the Orange Bowl for the BCS Championship.

2009

2009 - The Los Angeles Lakers defeat the Orlando Magic, 4-1, to win the 2009 NBA Championship.

2011

2011 - For the first time, the Los Angeles Kings win the Stanley Cup.

2013

2013 - UCLA Bruins baseball defeats Mississippi State, 2-0, to win the College World Series championship.

2015

The new Major League Soccer team, Los Angeles Football Club, founded in 2015, play their first MLS game against the Seattle Sounders in Seattle, winning 1-0.

2016

2016 - The Los Angeles Sparks defeat the Minnesota Lynx, 3-2, to win the 2016 WNBA Championship.

2018

That plan is coming to fruition with a new lab store in Eatontown, NJ that opened in 2018 and a new online presence.

2022
