the Corps members who help students
terrible management and leadership unless you have been there for 20 years and are friends with the csuite outsiders are treated with disrespect and punitive culture. the idealist mantra is a joke
Opportunity to network, and university partnerships.
Executives say they’re for AmeriCorps, but that’s simply a lie. AmeriCorps members are 1099 contractors, and are not protected by City Year Inc in anyway. They of course supplement support by selling pantries, food stamps, and “community” as a “benefit” of being a City Year AmeriCorps member. The site I worked for in San Antonio has had a revolving door of Directors who seem to be more interested in résumé building then impacting change.
Service with students, and faculty.
