Assist with analyzing the design for various civil elements related to high-voltage power transmission and substation design. Partner with clients, vendors, permitting agencies, and various other team members and stakeholders to see projects through to completion. Chosen Co-ops will receive in-depth technical training and industry certifications upon successful completion of examinations and demonstration of ability. As a Co-op, you will get the chance to perform a variety of testing on construction materials such as soils, concrete, masonry, and asphalt. Onsite materials testing is conducted on various commercial and transportation construction projects, where you will also work with project managers and other technicians to ensure specifications are followed. Candidates should be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and be able to lift 75+ pounds. Co-ops will frequently be required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. We are seeking to add a highly-motivated mid-to-senior level licensed Professional Engineer to our team of multi-disciplinary licensed engineers. The individual will have knowledge in the behavior of structural systems and their components for use in Forensic Engineering relating to residential, commercial, industrial facilities, marine and inland structures. Experience in performing failure cause & origin analysis on building systems, authoring technical reports, and construction litigation is desired. Building system types include, but are not limited: to, steel, concrete, masonry, wood, roofing and building envelopes. Responsibilities and Duties include: * Fieldwork to document as-built conditions and damage to structural systems as a result of natural (wind, water, fire, earth movement, etc.) and/or human-induced origins (design and construction errors/omissions). Natural events can include large catastrophes such as regional floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, and earthquakes. * Utilize building codes, technical knowledge of structural behavior, and understanding of construction practices to establish repair scope recommendations as well as cause and origin analyses. * Evaluate design drawings and documentation. * Communicate with Clients, interface with Code Officials and Contractors and provide detailed reports. * Manage multiple project assignments, executing them on time and within budget. * Retention and development of Client relationships. * Willing to travel, as needed, on short notice. Education and Experience requirements: * Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering from an ABET accredited program required. * Minimum 10 Years Structural Engineering experience in design or other backgrounds that promotes an understanding of structural behavior. * Texas Licensed Professional Engineer through NCEES examination. Multiple state registrations (or ability to obtain) a plus. * Knowledge of national building and construction codes (ICC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, NDS, etc.) * Knowledge and experience of Structural Engineering concepts, principles, and practices. * Knowledge of multiple types of construction, a plus. * Field experience. * Strong written and oral communication skills. * Experience in providing Litigation Support including Expert Testimony at Depositions and/or Trial, Mediation and Arbitration proceedings, desirable. Michael Baker International is seeking a Senior Aviation Civil Engineer/Project Manager located in Austin, Texas or surrounding metro areas (Dallas, San Antonio, Houston) to execute and oversee planning, design, and construction for current and future commercial service and general aviation airport clients. This position is a leadership role within the local office and the aviation practice. The candidate will actively work together with regional aviation leadership to grow the aviation practice in Texas by focusing on project excellence, client management, team recruitment and business plan development and execution. The preferred candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively and coordinate with project teams including other disciplines (cost estimators, GIS, designers, architects, and other engineers). The position involves performing programming, design and construction engineering for statewide aviation The candidate should possess a strong understanding of FAA Design Circulars and Construction Specifications, and a background in geometric layout of airfield facilities. Other strengths should include development of construction plans and specifications for airside and landside projects, with experience in airfield pavement reconstruction and rehabilitation, hangars, and general airport improvement projects.
