Duties, Responsibilities & Other KCI is seeking a motivated student for a Site/Civil Engineering Internship to join our Land Development team for Summer 2026. This position offers hands-on experience working on public and private development projects alongside experienced engineers. Summer interns will work a 40-hour week, with at least 10 weeks of work required during the period from mid-May to the end of August. Interns will be assigned a dedicated supervisor and mentor, are required to attend planned activities, and must submit mid-summer and end-of-summer reports/presentations. Responsibilities include: Assist with design tasks for commercial, residential, and institutional land development projects Support site layout, grading, stormwater management, utility design, and erosion/sediment control calculations under the guidance of project engineers Help prepare construction documents, drawings, and technical specifications using AutoCAD Civil 3D Provide support with local, state, and federal permitting processes (MDE, SHA, county-level agencies) Participate in site visits and assist with field observation reports Collaborate with team members on project organization, schedules, and cost estimate preparation Gain exposure to real-world engineering practices while contributing to active projects Qualifications Education and/or Skills Required: • This is an entry level position where no previous experience is required. • Currently enrolled in an ABET-Accredited College Engineering Program Education and/or Work Experience Preferred: • 3.0 GPA or higher Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Required: • Valid Driver's License • Pre-employment drug screening and background check are conditions of employment.

They will support the structural reliability and safety of our manufacturing facilities by providing guidance on the design, assessment, and maintenance of buildings, foundations, supports, and process infrastructure essential to site operations. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with a broad set of multidisciplinary teams to ensure structural solutions meet operational, safety, and regulatory requirements as well as the freedom to directly champion company standards and continuous improvement within a dynamic chemical industry environment. The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following: Lead civil/structural aspects of Chemours initiatives through collaboration with manufacturing site personnel, other subject matter experts, capital project team members, regulatory agencies, and external engineering service providers. Conduct condition assessments and recommend remediation actions for existing structures, supports, and foundations. Perform structural analysis and modeling for steel, concrete, masonry, wood, and other structures to ensure code compliance, safety, and durability under chemical plant conditions. Design and review structural components and systems for new construction, modifications, and upgrades to chemical facility assets. Support incident investigations and root cause analyses related to structural failures or safety concerns. The following is required for this role: BS or MS degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university. 7+ years of civil/structural engineering experience, with at least 3 years in the chemical or related industry. Strong understanding of industrial codes and standards (AISC, ACI, ASCE, IBC, AASHTO, OSHA). Thorough knowledge of core civil engineering competencies including engineering mechanics, materials of construction, structural engineering design and analysis, and specification of civil and structural components. Ability to maintain a travel rate of approximately 25 - 30% and perform field assessments that may require climbing ladders. The following is preferred for this role: Professional Engineer (PE) license or actively working towards licensure. Basic knowledge of geotechnical/foundation engineering, site grading, drainage, hydrology, groundwater protection, environmental structures, underground piping systems, roadway/railway systems, loading/unloading facilities, etc. Experience with specialized structures associated with the chemical industry (process buildings, pipe racks, tank foundations, containment areas, trenches/sumps/dikes, sewers, waste treatment facilities, outfalls, diffusers, etc.). Proficiency with relevant structural engineering software packages. Familiarity with chemical safety protocols, risk assessment methodologies, sustainability practices, and resilient design in industrial settings.
