Position Summary:

Must be willing to travel and physically able to climb, stand, walk and kneel for extended periods of time. Is able to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions, both indoors and outdoors, and access work on roofs, scaffolds, lifts, and other elevated surfaces and enclosed spaces with the appropriate personal protective equipment and training. Is self-motivated and capable of working independently as well as in a group environment with a dedication to ethics, quality, and customer service.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Working independently, while ensuring the timely and cost-effective execution of assigned cases;
Serving as the primary point of contact with clients including development and coordination of case budgets, work orders, site visits, cost estimates, and associated deliverables. Maintaining contact with clients on active cases to provide status updates, including case spend and budget status, and address questions, needs, or concerns at least every other week, or as otherwise agreed upon;
Assisting with the development and ongoing updates to the scopes of work associated with assigned cases, as necessary;
Making independent decisions for assigned cases, including the selection of applicable analysis and testing methodologies and identification and selection of resources relevant to execution of the established scope of work;
Managing resources for assigned cases, including both in-house and third-party sub-contractors where applicable, to meet established deadlines;
Engaging other disciplines to address areas of assignments outside of your experience or expertise / discipline, where necessary;
Conducting onsite investigations, testing, and gathering applicable field data on residential, commercial and industrial properties to assess damage and gather evidence of loss;
Reviewing and interpreting relevant building codes as necessary for issues pertaining to the established scope of work;
Preparation of repair and / or replacement cost estimates, as necessary;
Participating in conference calls and / or in-person meetings with clients regarding investigation status and results;
Preparation of forensic reports clearly detailing the observations made, documentation and data collected, testing results, applicable research conducted, and the associated conclusions, with a goal to issue reports within ten (10) business days following the completion of the site exam unless otherwise agreed-to by client;
Providing technical support and testifying as an expert witness in depositions and court proceedings, as necessary;
Collaborating with clients, colleagues, attorneys and other industry professionals, as necessary;
Maintaining weekly updates to case status reports and working with the Regional Engineering Manager and Chief Engineer to address any issues with clients or your assigned cases;
Conducting research and keeping current with industry best practices and emerging technologies;
Developing technical topics for publication, industry presentations, and both internal and external training and continuing education development;
Supporting EDT's marketing and business development resources including occasionally participating in client-relations meetings, attending industry conferences, preparing marketing and technical presentations, assisting with the development of marketing materials, preparing industry blogs and white papers, and engaging with other industry professionals;
Participating in EDT's mentorship program and supporting the training and development of new engineers in conjunction with the Chief Engineer and assigned Training Coordinator;
Secure and maintain professional licensure (at Company's expense) in all states where conducting investigations, including remaining current on any continuing education requirements, as necessary.

Key Functions
Initiate, prepare, review, develop, track, and distribute submittals and RFIs through Procore.

Coordinate fabrication and delivery of materials with project CPM, Project Manager, and Superintendent.
Interface with Cost Engineer to code and approve PO invoices, coordinating with Accounts Payable and Project Support team.
Review and submit quantities to owner for approval.
Assist the Project Manager in budget analysis and cost projections.
Assist in management of all subcontractors.
Gather and submit closeout documentation.
Assist Project Manager with projections and costs to complete.

Job Description
Dennis Group Civil Engineers focus on the land development and infrastructure for our industrial projects that involve designing and building new food and beverage process facilities. Our civil engineers have strong technical and design ability and excellent communication skills in designing land development plans, building pads, infrastructure for new buildings, landscaping, and everything from the foundation and below. Civil engineers are part of our Building Systems department and work closely with structure engineers and architects/designers. They are also involved with bid evaluation and local contractor initial contact in multiple project locations. The role is highly valuable at Dennis Group and faces engineering challenges that require strong calculation skills and for experienced engineers to have a Professional Engineer License (PE). As a member of our civil team your responsibilities may include but not limited to:
Responsibilities
Acquires basic knowledge and develops skills
Applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks as part of a broader assignment
Exercises limited judgement on details of work and in application of standard methods for conventional work
Performs basic design tasks. Assists on other tasks such as: preparation of permit applications, drawings and CAD work
Performs basic procurement tasks such as bid list development, contractor initial contact, bid tabulation, and preliminary bid evaluation
Acquires basic drawing literacy; develops an understanding of discipline specific plan elements, and how to navigate a set of drawings
Performs basic construction administration tasks including submittal review
Develop site basis of design document
Develop parking lot layout that satisfies development ordinances and regulations
Analysis and detailed design of institutional, industrial, and commercial buildings sites
Determines land use characteristics and assign runoff coefficients
Calculate times of concentrations
Pre-development hydrologic analysis for simple sites
Understanding of BMPs for EPSC
Prepare storm drainage report
Preparing engineering calculations and engineering sketches
Preparing land development plans, site grading, utility and drainage design for planning, permitting and construction for food and beverage processing facilities.
Reviewing drawings and coordinating the project team
Preparing bid packages and providing construction administration
Develop bidder list
Bid tabulation
Visiting project sites to observe field conditions
Evaluating design constraints and resolving problems
Required Education Skills and Experience
Junior, or Senior pursuing a degree in Civil Engineer or related engineering degree.
0-3 years of experience or schooling in civil engineer tasks involving industrial construction projects (foundation and below aspects - design land development, building pads, and infrastructure for new builds, etc.)
0-3 years of experience or schooling in drainage, grading and utility design for industrial or commercial projects.
0-3 years of experience or schooling in AutoCAD, Civil 3D
Ability to travel to project sites as needed (15 days a year)
GPA: 3.0 or above
Travel Requirement
Up to 25% travel required to visit project site and other offices.
