The advantage of working for a small firm is you get to take a project from conception to construction. In addition, we do other engineering projects such as site design and layout for convenience stores, agricultural facilities and commercial buildings. Full-time M-F. Wage depending on experience. $85,000 - $125,000 Primary Duties & Responsibilities Manage small to mid-size projects, client and contractor agreements and budgets. Effectively write and prepare technical engineering reports, plans and specifications for construction projects. Assist in field operations as needed; this may include construction inspection, survey and other forms of field engineering. Oversee construction activities and compliance with construction documents. Consult with clients and contractors to plan and develop strategies for their civil engineering design and support needs. Provide general oversight with contractors and sub-contractors. Gather field survey data to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations, contours, etc. through the use of conventional surveying and GPS methods. Prepares accurate field notes, drawings and records change in conditions while in field. Ensure schedules and productivity objectives are achieved. Candidate may be required to help with land surveying as needed. Training will be provided. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Coordinate structural steel design including building and foundation elements. Designing and engineering our various structures. Perform calculations to ensure proper component design at both the part and structural levels. Write specifications to ensure applicable building codes are met. Working knowledge of modern manufacturing techniques. Other duties as assigned. Education and/or Experience * B.S. Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training. * Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam before the hire date. * The intention to complete the Professional Engineering exam is a plus. * Experience with structural design preferred. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Computer Skills Ability to use Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to use sound judgment with good mechanical aptitude and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
