The Construction Engineer (CE) will be engaged in the project from the initiation / definition phase through final commissioning and closeout. Below is list of activities / deliverables the CE may be involved in throughout the life cycle of a project from initiation to final commissioning and closeout. Key Responsibilities:
Assist Construction Manager in managing capital projects through the entire life cycle from definition to closeout.
Participate as a member of project teams to develop project scope, project cost estimate, project schedule.
Attend site field / scope visits as required.
Assist Project Manager / Project Controls in developing schedule including critical paths
Develop detailed construction plans and identify outage requirements to implement new facilities.
Identify required construction permits and engage ROW and/or Environmental departments as needed.

Work with Customer stakeholders such as major accounts, Customer Service, local distribution networks, and area substation groups regarding outages that affect external/internal customers.

Participate in design constructability reviews for all disciplines (site, foundation, electrical & relay, T-Line) to identify and minimize change orders during the construction phase.
Identifies and addresses potential project safety hazards and environmental concerns. Responsible for monitoring and routine reporting on project construction schedule and cost.
Perform quality assurance checks during construction.
Ensure productivity tracker tool is updated daily.
Monitor schedule and progress versus requested in service date.
Responsible for closeout of construction contracts and as-built documentation.
Monitors that all Customer procedures and processes are followed so that we will comply with all regulatory requirements.
Coordinate with commissioning engineer to ensure all required documentation / testing is performed.
Qualifications:
Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Valid driver's license required.
High School Diploma or GED required.
BS in Engineering, Construction Management or other approved degree. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
2+ years of experience of transmission, substation or distribution line work. Positions are tiered based on experience level.
Familiarity with OSHA Standard 1926, including Subpart V (Power Transmission and Distribution).
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Org Plus, Outlook, SharePoint, and internet applications.
Proficiency in T&D standards, safe operation of line equipment, and familiarity with the operations of T&D construction.
Experience working in group settings and with governmental agencies.
Ability to interface effectively with internal and external clients at all levels.
Ability to prioritize effectively and adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment.
Willingness to travel extensively and maintain a continuous presence on assignments.
Physical ability to perform outdoor work and wear all required PPE.

Responsible for the development of engineering computations, plans, specifications, material quantity take-offs, estimates, site investigations and designs.
Perform due diligence supporting site selection and site planning activities which will include, but is not limited to preliminary local zoning, drainage, soils, traffic flow, utilities, and environmental evaluations and studies.
Assist in site plan design, including conceptual drainage, cut and fill, grading, and preparation of Low Impact Development (LID) plans.
Complete hydraulic calculations and analysis and prepare reports in formats acceptable to the jurisdictional authorities.
Design using analysis software and AutoCAD, Civil 3D and HydroCAD.
Completion of engineering calculations and design using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Support the creation and assembly of complete sets of site construction documents (i.e. plans, specifications, project schedules, project safety plans, project materials quantity requirements, and cost estimates).
Stay up to date and current on all changes in civil engineering related design codes and industry standards both at state and national levels.
Administer contracts, monitor the quality and contract compliance of activities of vendors and subconsultants (Water chemical analysis, Materials testing, Geotech, Surveying, etc.)
Read and evaluate the following: Land Surveys and GIS Mapping, Geotechnical Engineering reports, Water quality analysis reports, Wetland delineation reports, Traffic studies, Phase I, II and III Environmental Assessment reports, Subsurface utility location surveys, Noise and sound studies, Wildlife/ critical habitat/ archeological/ historic/ and cultural resource reports.
Help define and prepare Site Design Concept documents for projects.
Perform site and facility physical condition assessments.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited school (a master's degree in civil engineering is a plus.
Recently registered as a P.E. Civil Engineer to 6 Years of engineering experience.
Professional Engineer registration OR successfully obtain registration through comity within one year from date of application submittal to SOL .
Ability to effectively communicate in writing and verbally with internal and external partners, including clients, subcontractors, and utility companies.
Excellent time and project management skills.
Very organized, dependable, and professional.
Previous internship experience with an engineering design firm is a plus.
