The Civil Engineering Group consists of 3 sub-groups: Structural, Foundations, and Substation Site Improvement. The responsibilities include the scoping, tracking, managing, and completing all structural analysis/design, foundation design, and site improvement requests in support of the Transmission, Substation, Distribution, and Telecom Departments. The Substation site (grading and paving) improvement work in support of Substation Capital work can include expansion of existing subs, feasibility studies for purchasing property for new greenfield subs, and for the installation/replacement of major substation components such as transformers and breakers. The Structural group also reviews and approves fabricator structure drawings for fabrication, coordinates fabricated structure inspections, and reviews all requests for PCS (cell phone antenna) installations on our existing structures by performing structural analysis. The Foundations group in addition to designing foundations (for Transmission and Substation structures) evaluates existing foundations for increased load capacity and recommends augmentation or replacement.

Your Job Responsibilities:

System One has several openings for Civil Engineers II to support our clients Hurricane Ida Restoration Project on FAA facilities. The CE II will perform physical surveys and facility condition assessments for some of the FAA facilities damaged by Hurricane IDA (2021) in the central service area. Initial site surveys will require travel to project location – with per diem. Start date is expected sometime in Mid September. United States Citizenship is required to gain a Public Trust Clearance.

The Civil Engineer II will have the following education / experience
- 4 year degree in Civil Engineering (or related field)
- 5 to 8 years of related Civil Engineering work experience.

Position Overview:
Performs conventional and moderately complex engineering assignments, applying engineering techniques and analyses within a discipline. The Civil Engineer at this level is proficient in the utilization of standard engineering theories and practices, and Company procedures. Some assignments involve CAE (computer aided engineering)/CAD (computer aided design) applications. Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier, client, or construction site locations, is expected.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Independently develops and/or supervises the creation of engineering products that meet customer quality requirements. This includes defining the problem, establishing the work scope, preparing the budget and schedule, planning the work, providing technical direction, and reporting the work status.
- Typical products may include detailed calculations, drawings, procurement documents, design and installation packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, and detailed analyses.
- Provides support for other engineering activities as required. May supervise one or more subordinates and provide input regarding performance.
- May be assigned to a project or organizational team, or as a lead engineer for a specific discipline on a small to intermediate size project.
- Provides input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower level Engineers working on the same project.
- Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
