What You Will Contribute to OHM Advisors

Your Responsibilities
Support project engineers in applying principles and techniques of civilengineering.
Assist in the review of site plans for compliance with community standards.
Participate in construction observation to ensure project specifications are met.
Assist survey crews on-site and gain exposure to land survey methods and field techniques.
Contribute to the preparation of reports, exhibits, and technical documentation.
Help gather and organize data from field visits or research to support project planning.
Collaborate with project teams and attend internal meetings to gain exposure to real-world project workflows.
Requirements
Current enrollment in an accredited Bachelor's program in CivilEngineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Planning, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, GIS, CADD/Design Technology, or a related technical field
Strong oral and written communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; spreadsheet experience preferred
Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation is a plus

Mesa is seeking a motivated Civil/Structural Engineer (5-10 years' experience) to join our civil/structural team supporting substation and utility projects. In this role, you will perform structural analysis and design of substation steel and concrete elements (transformer and equipment foundations, control building foundations, oil containment, cable trenches, support structures, steel framing, and switch rack design), prepare calculations and sealed design deliverables, develop construction drawings and specifications, and review shop drawings. You will apply relevant codes and standards (ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, NESC/IEEE as applicable), use industry software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, RISA/SAP2000, AutoCAD/MicroStation/Revit), and coordinate closely with internal project managers, electrical engineers, contractors, and utility clients to support timely, constructible designs.
The ideal candidate holds a B.S. in Civil/Structural Engineering (M.S. a plus), has 5-10 years of relevant experience (utility/substation experience strongly preferred but not required), and has PE licensure. Strong technical writing, organization, and communication skills are required, along with a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work both independently and in multidisciplinary teams. The position includes occasional site visits and construction support, and offers opportunities for professional development, mentorship from senior engineers, and exposure to large utility clients and complex substation projects.
Education/Experience/Licensure:
5-10 years of experience in Structural Engineering or related structural design field
Knowledge of Structural design requirements and standards (ASCE 7, ASCE 113, IBC, etc.)
BSCE degree from an accredited college or university
PE license is highly preferred
