Position Responsibilities:
Develop, integrate and document structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design
Develop, maintain and modify structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle
Perform tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications
Manage supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals
Support investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

About The Role
As Civil Project Engineer, you will own the design and engineering of the mechanical, structural, geotechnical, and civil aspects of Planted Solar's projects, ranging in size from distributed generation (DG) to utility scale. You will support solar site design, specifically focused on the structural, civil, and geotechnical disciplines, while balancing optimization of energy production, schedule, and labor and material costs. This role is a key interface with customers, independent engineers, and permitting agencies to ensure Planted projects meet all civil and structural engineering requirements.
This role offers the opportunity to work closely with talented engineering and business teams with a high degree of empowerment and autonomy. We are looking for a technically excellent hands-on engineer with experience deploying solar at scale. You will be a key part of the product development road map.
The annual salary range for this full-time position is $110,000 - $140,000 plus stock options and benefits. Pay within the range is based on candidate experience, job-specific skills, education, and work location. The target experience for the position is 3-8 years.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and engineer Planted Solar projects ranging from 1 - 200+ MW. Specifically focused on the structural, civil, geotechnical and mechanical aspects of the solar array and site layout
Create project drawings and documentation for bidding, permitting, and construction
Coordinate with clients and third party engineering partners to understand, design, and optimize site constraints, as well as resolve design changes or construction issues
Support soil testing such as pile load testing and corrosion analyses
Analyze project pre-construction data to ensure the project meets both product specifications and local permitting & AHJ requirements (stormwater, viewshed, fire management access, etc.)
Collaborate with third party engineering partners to deliver stamped drawing sets and reports such as pile load tests, foundation drawings, racking structural drawings, etc.
Work collaboratively with engineering teammates to produce holistic site designs
Travel as needed to project sites to support foundation and racking construction to ensure customer satisfaction with Planted products and services
Champion improvements of the Planted system through critical feedback on hardware and software products

* Assist with and perform complex transportation engineering projects; recommend and implement traffic signal timing and coordination improvements using specialized software; conduct field review and fine-tune signal timing.
* Monitor industry developments, guidelines, and best practices; recommend and implement related policies, procedures, and physical improvements.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Experience: Three (3) years of increasingly responsible and varied professional civilengineering experience including supervisory experience.

The CivilEngineer Intern will support civilengineering teams in the planning, design, analysis, and construction support of infrastructure and site development projects. The STRIVE Internship Program is a 12-week experience running from **May 18, 2026 through August 7, 2026** . Week 12 includes **company-paid travel to an APTIM office** (location to be announced) for an end-of-internship celebration.

**Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:**

**The Physical Side of the Role:** This is an active, hands-on role. You can expect to be on your feet frequently, navigating active job sites with uneven terrain, stairs, ladders, and hoists. The work is physically demanding and requires a full range of motion, including bending, kneeling, and reaching. You'll need to be comfortable frequently lifting and carrying materials up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. This role requires the ability to communicate effectively, as well as visual acuity for reading plans and inspecting work. The role does include desk time in the office that may require prolonged periods of sitting for tasks like computer work, document review, and meetings.

The CivilEngineer Intern will support civilengineering teams in the planning, design, analysis, and construction support of infrastructure and site development projects. This internship provides hands-on experience working alongside licensed engineers and project teams on real-world projects while developing technical, analytical, and professional skills. APTIM's internship program provides students with the opportunity to acquire real-world knowledge and skills that will help focus efforts on the most appropriate field of study. Interns will be paired with experienced engineering and science staff who will provide training on specific tasks, and also mentorship on the environmental assessment, remediation, and infrastructure business. This is a Temporary position.
The STRIVE Internship Program is a 12-week experience running from May 18, 2026 through August 7, 2026. Interns are required to be fully available during Week 1 (May 18--22) and Week 12 (August 3--7) of the program. Week 12 includes company-paid travel to an APTIM office (location to be announced) for an end-of-internship celebration.
Interns are expected to minimize absences to ensure a meaningful program experience. The program observes Memorial Day (May 25, 2026) and Independence Day (July 3, 2026, observed).
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Dedication to learning applicable regulatory rules and guidance as well as company policies and procedures.
