    Dennis Group Civil Engineers focus on the land development and infrastructure for our industrial projects that involve designing and building new food and beverage process facilities. Our civil engineers have strong technical and design ability and excellent communication skills in designing land development plans, building pads, infrastructure for new buildings, landscaping, and everything from the foundation and below. Civil engineers are part of our Building Systems department and work closely with structure engineers and architects/designers. They are also involved with bid evaluation and local contractor initial contact in multiple project locations. The role is highly valuable at Dennis Group and faces engineering challenges that require strong calculation skills and for experienced engineers to have a Professional Engineer License (PE). Collaborating with an in-house, multi-disciplinary engineering and construction team - including civil, structural, geotechnical, construction management, and construction experts - the Staff Civil Engineer plays a crucial role in providing civil and drainage design solutions on projects; responsibilities include supporting design production, contributing to the development of construction drawings and specifications, and engineering support during construction. This role is an office-based position with a primary focus on executing civil design that includes permitting support, site layout, grading design, stormwater analysis, survey coordination, and civil construction inspections. The Staff Civil Engineer will be expected to apply standard and advanced engineering principles, under the direct oversight of a Professional Engineer, to solve complex problems. He/she will receive guidance and mentoring from project and/or senior level professionals. What You'll Do Key Responsibilities Execute assignments requiring application of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out civil engineering tasks. Develop civil construction specifications. Support of substation and transmission line physical design consisting of layout, conduit, grounding, site and work pad development, and erosion and sediment control. Perform basic stormwater calculations to size culverts, ditches, and stormwater retention/detention facilities using stormwater modeling software. Coordinate with multi-discipline design teams including geotechnical, geological, structural, transmission line, substation, GIS, and construction management team members. Develop written reports and/or provide verbal communication of information in a professional and appropriate manner. Work under supervision of Project Engineer, Senior Engineer, or Project Manager in a professional office setting. Perform occasional site visits to project sites located throughout North America.
