Fischer Land Surveying & Engineering of Langdon, ND is seeking a CivilEngineer (PE) to join our company. Candidate must have a bachelor's degree in civil or construction engineering. We primarily serve NE ND and NW MN but have also done work across the state of ND. We have continued to grow our client base and projects over the past 28 years, striving to provide the most accurate and quality services for our clients. We are a small company where every employee plays an important role. We design open channel drains and have helped create 30 assessment drains in northeastern ND. The advantage of working for a small firm is you get to take a project from conception to construction. In addition, we do other engineering projects such as site design and layout for convenience stores, agricultural facilities and commercial buildings.
Full-time M-F. Wage depending on experience. $85,000 - $125,000
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Manage small to mid-size projects, client and contractor agreements and budgets.
Effectively write and prepare technical engineering reports, plans and specifications for construction projects.
Assist in field operations as needed; this may include construction inspection, survey and other forms of field engineering. Oversee construction activities and compliance with construction documents.
Consult with clients and contractors to plan and develop strategies for their civilengineering design and support needs. Provide general oversight with contractors and sub-contractors.
Gather field survey data to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations, contours, etc. through the use of conventional surveying and GPS methods. Prepares accurate field notes, drawings and records change in conditions while in field.
Ensure schedules and productivity objectives are achieved.
Candidate may be required to help with land surveying as needed. Training will be provided.
Ensure work vehicle is supplied with stakes, flagging, lath, etc.
Responsible for keeping track of oil changes or routine maintenance due on survey vehicle or UTV in advance so they can be scheduled for maintenance in a timely manner.

Job Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Civil/Construction Engineering with coursework in hydrology/hydraulics/ soil mechanics/construction and business coursework. Individual must have their PE license. The ideal candidate would have experience in municipal/buildings and highway design.
Excellent computer and strong technical skills, including Microsoft Office, AutoCad/Civil 3D.
Must be detail orientated, self-motivated with the ability to think independently, and have strong listening, interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to speak and write English clearly.
Display a high level of initiative and ability to manage multiple projects and assignments with clear expectations and timeliness.
Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record and provide a drug test if asked to do so.
Applicant will be both indoors and outdoors and be capable of lifting 50-75# and do manual field labor tasks such as clearing vegetation, driving in rebar/lathe for staking, be able to walk on uneven terrain and be capable of standing or walking for long periods.

JOB SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Project Engineer assists in the development and management of multiple capital construction and engineering projects under the direction of a Project Manager or the Director of Project Management. The Project Engineer will assist in the development and execution of the scope of work, budget and schedule of the assigned projects including successful commissioning and turnover to Owner.

This is an on-site role located in Sioux Falls, SD. Responsibilities include:
Maintain a safe work record within the group and on project sites. Promote Safety Management culture on all project sites.
Routinely lead project coordination meetings, construction progress updates, and other multifaceted personnel interfaces.
Organize and manage multiple objectives for different projects to achieve contractual obligations and manage stakeholder expectations.
Review detailed construction budgets and provide feedback to the Project Manager on actual and projected expenditures. Control expenses to maximize profitability while delivering a superior project.
Assist and provide direct feedback to meet or beat contractual completion dates and other contractual obligations.
Review Engineering recommendations regarding purchase order, contract (including Change Orders), and vendor negotiations. Assist and provide direct feedback to the Project Manager in capturing increased profitability wherever possible without damaging customer or subcontractor relations, quality construction and schedule obligations.
Review warranty claims and resultant warranty process with the Project Manager and provide recommendations.
Create detailed construction schedules for use by Engineers, Project Superintendents, and sub-contractors. Update the construction schedules to show deviation from baseline information and communicate changes in a timely manner to the Project Manager.
Routinely update the Engineering staff on the progress of current and future construction projects through detailed progress reports and staff meetings.
Monitor construction activity at the construction sites and check for accuracy according to plans, enforce construction safety, and pursue ways to improve efficiency and sequencing.
Attend or occasionally lead pre-bid and pre-construction meetings for contracts issued for each project.
Occasionally provide detailed project estimates to the Project Manager.
Coordinate the project commissioning, including the internal start-up team, sub-contractors, and vendors. Participate in the project commissioning process and personnel through contractual completion.
Create and manage project punch lists and work with the Project Superintendents and others to complete these tasks.
Maintain a team environment at all times and champion POET in the community.
