The main focus of these projects are the design and project management of city-initiated water, sewer, and storm drainage line extension and replacement projects, as well as street resurfacing, sidewalk and greenway projects, and city facility improvements. Additionally Department staff members play a critical role in the review and inspection of developer-initiated residential and commercial projects.
What you will do:
An employee in this role manages public infrastructure projects from design through completion, performing professional engineering tasks and overseeing consulting engineers. Responsibilities include preparing plans and cost estimates for roadways, sidewalks, water/sewer lines, storm drainage, and bike/pedestrian infrastructure. The role involves coordinating surveys, utility impacts, rights-of-way, easements, and ensuring compliance with specifications and regulations.
The employee collaborates with consultants, contractors, inspectors, and internal departments, tracking project budgets, timelines, and approvals while resolving issues during design and construction. Duties also include enforcing soil erosion ordinances, managing street resurfacing and safety policies, conducting performance reviews, and leading transportation-related projects such as transit plans, greenways, and intersection improvements. This FLSA-exempt position serves as a Project Manager for consultant-led designs and city infrastructure initiatives.
Examples of Duties
Project Design & Planning:
* Develop designs for roads, streets, water/sewer lines, storm drainage, traffic control, and erosion control projects.
* Coordinate intersection and pedestrian improvement plans with State and Federal agencies.

🔧 Key Responsibilities:
Use AutoCAD Civil3D to create site plans, parking layouts, subdivisions, streets, and utility designs, including water mains, sewer mains, and stormwater systems.
Develop grading plans, erosion control plans, stormwater management plans, and final plats.
Collaborate with Engineers to produce high-quality deliverables that meet project timelines and budgets.
Process plans with governmental agencies for reviews and approvals.
Ensure adherence to company standards, policies, and procedures while maintaining top-tier quality.
🎓 Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma required (Associate's degree in civilengineering preferred).
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of relevant land development experience.
Skills:
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil3D and Microsoft Office Suite.
CAD certifications are strongly preferred.
Experience with Ajera expense and timesheets or equivalent software is a plus.
